team that spent most of their 43 years of existence as consummate losers and were almost driven out of New Orleans forever by a hurricane that had the owner looking for new homes from San Antonio to Los Angeles.
Meet Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints, who lit up their city and most of the nation with a 31-17 upset Sunday of the Indianapolis Colts. They won their first Super Bowl by beating the Colts and Peyton Manning, literally New Orleans' favorite son. That would be Peyton, offspring of Archie, the quarterback and only star of the futile Saints from 1971-82 when their fans became the first to go to games with bags over the heads. The Saints did it with Brees going 32-of-39 for 288 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead scoring pass to Jeremy Shockey with just under six minutes left. Tracy Porter capped it off with a 74-yard interception return for a score two-and-a-half minutes later. "It was all meant to be. It was destiny,'' said Brees, described by owner Thom Benson as "MVP of the league" -- an award Manning won this season. |

Good guys do WIN sometimes. Right thing was done today. Underdog won but this is a good thing for New Orleans and the people that live there.

That onside kick was some really gutsy play. Fortune favored the brave tonight and New Orleans deserves it more than any other city.

Kudos to Sean Payton for his playcalling and his team for their execution, It was liberal and gusty, but it worked and i liked it!

Actually, Drew Brees was a pretty respectable junior tennis player. Now he's a super bowl champion.
...according to Roddick. There, now it relates to this forum. |

Tyrus please refrain from using such language... On that, this is the wrong forum.
Congratulations to the Saints, but nonetheless, we all know the MVP of the game was Adrian Peterson and the Referees of the NFC. If not for this combo, the Vikings would have been in killing the Colts. Payton choked that's it.
