Hey everyone! I've been playing tennis for a while but I usually only purchase black shorts since I play with black Under Armour compression shorts underneath.. It just always seemed to me that white shorts would be see-through and I wouldn't want to be worrying about people seeing through my shorts while I'm playing. But I'm starting to like the way white shorts look on some pros and was just curious about some things:
Out of your experience, are white shorts usually see-through? Are some brands better than others when it comes to this? Do you HAVE to wear white underwear/compression shorts when you wear them? Opinion overall on white vs black shorts? I'd appreciate any info you can provide me with! THANKS A LOT! |

white shorts are more than ok when you do not play on clay.

I find that Adidas is the best as far as not seeing through although I always wear Underarmor white underneath anyways because it makes the white look better imo.

Yeah, my Nike dri-fit shorts always show what's underneath.

my favorite shorts of all time are basic white nike basketball shorts. they're about the same length and fit as the nadal shorts but are made with 2 layers of mesh, so no see-through.

It really just depends on the weight of the fabric of the short. I wear black compression shorts under white shorts. It's fine.

I too wear black compression shorts under my white tennis shorts. I believe roddick does this as well? Beats the hell out of having to worry if people can see through them haha.

Feds white shorts the ones from spring 09 onward- white blue stripe, white gold stripe, I wear these with white compression shorts, when I sweat really bad the lucky few might get a decent semi @ss shot nothing that will change from me wearing them.

*CLEAN* white shorts are the best!
They are bright and they bring my spirits up (as do bright colors) and that makes me play better. Gotta rock the Tommy Hilfiger athletic briefs (all white) **** is comfy

The problem is that they don't stay white if you wear them a lot. I wear my whites as little as possible so they don't get dingy.
Especially if you play on clay. It is tough to notice as it happens slowly, but hold them up to a new pair and you can see the difference. J

I have found a good "best-practice" to keep them whiter longer...As it turns out the dingy is actually partially due to residue detergent. I have high efficiency washer and dryers (use less water), and I started selecting to add an extra rinse cycle for all of my whites, just not tennis stuff, it helps a lot! For the tennis/Dry-fit, etc...Of course, avoid using liquid softerner, or any softener for that matter as it affects wicking performance in general, and also adds to dingy-ness (using the liquid kind).

These are the best solution. Available in a multitude of colors that don't fade or dull, comfy, loose, and they have pockets.
