Default Asics Res II-side cracking

Hi All:

Let me just say, I love this shoe. Comfortable, good support and cushioning, especially for a guy like me with mild osteoarthritic knees.
I bought a new pair about two weeks ago- clay court version and have played in the new pair about 4-5 times.
However, I noticed that the sides of the shoe where the Asics "arches" decoration or whatever you call it is cracking. It is taking away from the aesthetics of the shoe. Has anybody else experienced this?

ok, talk about anal....do you honestly believe that the fatigue showing on this silly little piece of the shoe is going to be noticed by anyone aside from you?

Its not a matter of it being noticed by me or anyone... its a brand new pair of shoes.

I bought a pair in January and it's the most comfortable tennis shoe I've ever worn...and that's from a guy who's been playing for 25 years. But yes, the decorative cover or tape on the side of both shoes is disintegrating. I'll still keep wearing them though, and will buy more in the future.

My feeling as well. Awesome shoe. I have really bad knees so I am looking into replacing the insole with superfeet orange insole as a result of various posters recommendations to increase he cushioning even more.

When did the tape disintegrate? Did it start after the first hour on court like mine or after awhile?

It was probably around the 4th or 5th day of wearing it on the court.

Couple hours of rigorous play and it starts. When it cracks you've broken them in and are ready to play.

Vanity doesn't belong on the tennis court.

Never had a single issue with any pair of asics, tennis or running, but if you feel it's a defect, just call the shop where they were purchased...

Thanks and No doubt you are right! These days, its all about protecting my knees and being able to play another 30+ years!

Yep - on every pair I have owned. It does make them feel a bit cheap and doesn't look good... but it doesn't impact the performance in any way.
