Good point Mary.

I would say we live in more of an oligarchy under the current el' presidente.

Director Wes Anderson wishes we never have to grow up. Is this why Bill Murray has been in 5 of his last 6 films? This one's a sweet fantasy, absorbing and entertaining. All-star cast.

Finally got around to The Hangover 2. What a disappointment, basically the first movie only in Thailand and not as funny. I wasn't as big of a fan of the first one as everyone else seemed to be, but this one was just terrible, not very funny IMO.

I thought the first one was horrible, the second one even worse. Got dragged into watching the second one.....

Recently watched most of Wall Street. I knew the Sheens were all actors, but I didn't realize that Charlie's dad plays his dad in the film. His brother, Martin, definitely looks more like his dad though. Anyway, it was an interesting flick, even though I'm still yet to have seen the whole thing.

I was able to watch Aliens when it popped up over on Syfy. One of my all time favorite movies. The first two of the series hold a special place for me.

Almost forgot about Indiana Jones! There was a marathon on USA, and I watched most of Raiders and about all of Temple of Doom. Two very fun films to watch, I really enjoyed them yesterday.

His brother Martin looks like Charlie's dad identical twin.

I completely agree. I thought the first one was OK but nothing like as great as people made out (Knocked Up was way funnier imo). Hangover 2 was just dire.

Recent films:

Prometheus - Good but not great. It has tons of sci-fi flaws in it and some utterly terrible scriptwriting which seems added only to explain pretty obvious stuff to the most inattentive viewers (such as Vicker's saying "father" to Weyland and some major technology continuity flaws with regards to the other Alien films which were set decades later. Only now that they've been highlighted has Riddley Scott back-tracked to say it's not strictly a prequel, rather a related, earlier film). The failings of the film mean it will never be regarded as a sci-fi great like Alien/Aliens/Blade Runner - it's not even close in that respect. The sound-track however is fantastic. Overall totally worth watching but don't expect to have your mind blown.

Last Will - a good film which attempts to be in a similar vein of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It's an arty film about a murder at the Nobel Awards banquet/ball which just isn't quite dark or complex enough to be great. However, it is way better than its IMDB rating of 5.4 suggests. (Early days yet - IMDB ratings are so unreliable in the first 6 months)

Conan the Barbarian. It's another childhood favorite of mine. Arnold just fits the barbarian role perfectly, and his random "ahhhs" and noises are amusing.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Stranger Tides

Horrible. The other Pirates of the Caribbean movies were at least sort of fun summer entertainment. This one just seemed to drag on for no reason. Hope they don't make another one, but the ending seems to indicate there will be more.

Default To Rome With Love

Woody Allen's latest film has something to say about frustrations along the way in the search for happiness, and whether a successful life softens the blows. B- or C+ due to stilted, self-conscious dialogue, not too many laughs.

haha i stopped watching after dead man's chest, johnny depp was pretty good in Dark Shadows though (really funny for the first half of the movie, but seemed to drag on and got boring the last hour or so..)

Rock of Ages. Believe it or not, it's pretty funny movie. If you're a fan of 80's Hair Bands, you'll like it. The comic relief written into the script was really good.

I went to the drive-in movies in Columbus, OH for a triple feature the other night.

Rock of Ages
It is a decent movie for those who grew up in the 80s or around that time. You've got your Axl Rose character, Tipper Gore character, and many other notable historical figures along w/ the invent of the boy bands and hip hop. I really felt it was just a cameo episode of Glee with famous actors doing the singing and dancing to songs from Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Twisted Sister, Scorpions, etc. I think I annoyed my wife and kids because I could sing and then was forced to lip sync all of the songs. I'm 40.

Brave
This movie was the same as the Disney movie Brother Bear except it wasn't two brothers and was a mother and daughter. They should've just called it Mother Bear. It was entertaining but the story is old.

Madagascar 3
This was the best of the three movies. It was fast paced, musical, funny, and just plain entertaining. While the plot isn't deep, it does send the message that the good ol' days weren't that good and the grass isn't always greener. I liked it and it'll probably take #1 back at the box office soon.

All three movies are worth seeing and you wouldn't feel as though you wasted your money or your time. I read the above posts about The Hangover 2 and couldn't agree more with the comments.
