Rock of Ages
It is a decent movie for those who grew up in the 80s or around that time. You've got your Axl Rose character, Tipper Gore character, and many other notable historical figures along w/ the invent of the boy bands and hip hop. I really felt it was just a cameo episode of Glee with famous actors doing the singing and dancing to songs from Def Leppard, Foreigner, Journey, Twisted Sister, Scorpions, etc. I think I annoyed my wife and kids because I could sing and then was forced to lip sync all of the songs. I'm 40.

Brave
This movie was the same as the Disney movie Brother Bear except it wasn't two brothers and was a mother and daughter. They should've just called it Mother Bear. It was entertaining but the story is old.

Madagascar 3
This was the best of the three movies. It was fast paced, musical, funny, and just plain entertaining. While the plot isn't deep, it does send the message that the good ol' days weren't that good and the grass isn't always greener. I liked it and it'll probably take #1 back at the box office soon.

All three movies are worth seeing and you wouldn't feel as though you wasted your money or your time. I read the above posts about The Hangover 2 and couldn't agree more with the comments.
Musta been there till 4 am to see all three, eh?

Seems like there's a trend here.... dragging on in Dep movies. LOL!

Saw Brave. Maybe I'm not old enough to remember Brother Bear, but I thought it was really good.

Has some fun moments for the adults and kept the kids entertained. Also, I'd prefer this type of movie for my daughter where the princess character is more than a helpless maid looking for a prince to fall in love with or rescue her. I don't mind the classic Disney princess movies too much, and my daughter has seen quite a few, but this was a bit of a change of pace - IMHO.

Got home at 4:30am and the kids stayed up until the sun came up while I went to bed. It sort of reminded me of when I was a kid and the drive-ins would do a dusk til dawn movie marathon on holiday weekends. There usually were extra activities going on in the last few rows of cars.

It was a good movie and I agree with you about a strong role model for the girls as I have three daughters 16, 11, & 6 years old. You ought to look up Brother Bear for them if they liked Brave. It is a good movie with a good message too.

Mirror, Mirror
Saw this weeks ago and this is another good movie with a strong role model character for girls. I know the women liked it too. I went with the moms and the girls from the U11 soccer team; only dad there. I liked it. It had enough funny moments for kids and adults. It'll make it to video in a couple more months.

Avengers
Saw this weeks ago with my 11 year old. She is into action movies. It was good and will definitely be sequel worthy. Hopefully, they'll take their time and have a good story unlike Ironman 2 which stunk BIGTIME.

YES. I watch lots of movies. I like popcorn. I was too excited the other night about the new microwave kettle corn. I bought the grocery store brand instead of the national brand and that stuff was good. I don't think it'll put the vendor out of business who sets up at all of the travel soccer tournaments but it will put a dent in their business.

Rock Of Ages. ... phew.
They must have made a typo. 'Schlock of Ages' is a better title for it.

^^ it's a movie based on a Broadway musical; did you expect more than schlock?

Thanks dak95_00.

I'll check them out. I want to see Avengers (dying to see it), but think it might be too intense for my 4yr old.

Replicant. Van Damne. But is he really 5'11" and 180lbs.?
I seem to remember him shorter and much lighter, like 165lbs.
His same spinning backkick is getting old.

I saw the Woody Allen Film in NYC, safe haven for him. The Angelika Theatre was running it on three screens, literally starting a showing about every half hour. He often shows only in New York and perhaps LA for a few weeks before going to general distribution.

just saw unstrung. as much people rip on donald young for being an underachiever, that movie put things in perspective - how every other junior at Kalamazoo that year, except Querrey, would kill to be ranked in the top 100.

re-watched Senna as well. great movie for a racing fan, and even for sports fan in general, to see the kind of drive and passion the man had.

Strictly Ballroom. I can't quite second the popular screening of this film as a mockumentary of sorts--Luhrmann love and respect for the subject is unmistakable throughout, and he does celebrate the stereotypes with flying colors in the end--but I do think this is the best of his Red Curtain Trilogy. A surefire crowd-pleaser.

Haywire. Well that was funny, between the lack of decent dialogues, Gina Carano kicking arse, odd things happening on the background of the scenes, the list of well known starts, the crazy editing, digital cinematography and Gina Caraso kicking arse (yes it is worth to say it twice), I think it made for a decently entertaining movie, won't see it twice though. But I do have to say:

21 Jump Street. It was a great movie. Really cracked me up, especially in the scene where Hill's character shoots something pretty funny.

Harakiri by Masaki Kobayashi. A most devastating critique of the bushido code that puts "honor" above the dignity of human life. Tatsuya Nakadai's intense portrayal of the justly jaded ronin Hanshiro Tsugumo is not to be missed. Definitely one of Kobayashi's best works, and one of the hidden gems of Japanese cinema.

saw the new spiderman today. It was really good except for the fact that he looked way too much like Andy Murray for me to take him seriously lol.
