Default tension meter device??

Are there any devices out in the market where you can find out in real time what your racquet tension is? I'm guessing theres probally something that hangs on your racquet in middle and shows the tension in lbs? (like fishermans use i think what it is?) It would be nice to find out what tension really is comfortable for me and jot it down and a good indicator if i should use it during a match or not... however during a match it would be kind of wierd hanging stuff...

$170 for a string tension device? Just get a Stringmeter for like $30 something, works great for me.

You might want to do a Google search for a Stringmeter yourself, though, as there are several places that sell one.

Your issue will be, like for all of us, how to interpret/use one correctly. It is essential that you read the instructions fully to know how to use one to your benefit: http://stringmeter.uniquesports.us/

Currently I rely on a combination of the Stringmeter and this device, which measures differently, and more than one thing: http://eagnas.com/maxgen1/etest.html. I highly recommend acquiring both to do the job right.

how accurate is the eagnas one? is that why you have both stringmeter and that.. it seems kind of odd that you have to tap the 5oclock position .. i would think that accurate tension reader would be something that danglesfrom it instead of vertically attached like a magnet

I'm sure that you understand that these really do not measure tension, as once the racquet is strung, there is no end of the string to accurately measure the exact tension. These devises actually measure string bed stiffness. Each has different ways to go about that, and from that one can measure a % change of string bed stiffness over time to get an idea of % change of tension that it represents and therefore know more on when its time to change out the strings.

Even the very expensive Babolat RDC machine does not really measure tension but string bed stiffness, by deflecting the strings a certain distance and measuring this in a unit called RDC units, so for example when you string a racquet a Wilson Pro Staff 6.1 (95) a 16x18 pattern, at 60 lbs.with Prince Syn gut it can register 78RDC units and after 24 hours (no playing),it would register 71 RDC units, which interprets a 9% loss in tension, but it really does not measure tension directly, but from the information the tension loss can be extrapolated as such.
