my ntrp level based on playing ntrp rated players

so since ive taken up tennis again last year ive been playing singles and doubles. i just joined usta and plan on playing some tournaments.

i play quite a few computer rated tournament players for fun.
against 3.5s im beating them double bagels or 1 and 1. (4 guys)
against 4.0s im winning 2 and 2, 3 and 0, 1 and 1 (3 guys)
against 4.5s from 3 guys the scores have been : 2 and 2, 2 and 4, 3 and 0.

this was on a mixure of hard court and hard tru over the past 4 months. all the games were tough for me. i didnt feel anyone game was harder to play they were all tough. i fought for every point and was trying to stay composed on all the matches.

if i start playing usta should i play at 4.5 level or should i play the open tourneys? im a pretty good player but i always feel like i am on the verge of losing the game even when i am winning. i think i can do the opens because the guys i have played and beat pretty handily score wise are all regular tourney players. how good are the open guys? are they all ex college guys? (i am one) im in the nyc, nj area.

Based on your scores you should play open. The guys you beat you beat easily and since you said they were regular tournament players they are legit players for their stated levels.

Open tourney generally have players from 4.5-5.5 with occasional 3.5-4.0 or 6.0s showing up depending on where, how big, ect. is the tournament.

yeah. i looked at the opens in nj nyc area. the draws are small. 10_12 players is the max. im gonna give it a shot. maybe ill get lucky and win one.
