I'm playing my first USTA tournament this weekend. One of the players on the competitors list doesn't show up on tennislink. I've searched his name and tried to pull him up through the 'find a rating' search. If you have to be a USTA member to play, then how is it that he can be invisible on tennislink? Obviously I'm missing something. Has anybody experienced this or know what the heck is going on?

It means the person hasn't played any leagues and/or doesn't have a rating.

Nope. You can not have a rating and sign up where you think you should be, but your results will then generate a 'tournament only' ('T'-rating) at the end of the year.

You can also search specifically for any tournament related results at this website. You can also click on their name when the draw comes out and it will give you the person's tournament results for the past year.
