Default My grip is too large, is there a way to make it smaller?

I got 4 3/8 grip Pure Drive GT+, when i play it hurts my hands/wrist. Is there anyway to shrink it? My actual grip size should be 4 1/8.
I am new and I didn’t know about the grip sizes before but i know for sure now its too big.

You could take the grip off and wrap the handle with an overwrap.

Sell it and buy one in your correct size. Why did you get one in the wrong size in the first place?

That depends on the overwrap you use. With the soft cushion type grip gone you will actually get a little more control. You may or may not like it.

You could also take a hand plane to the handle and take off a VERY LITTLE bit at a time, evenly on EACH bevel, until you feel like it fits your hand. Remember, you can't put back on what you take off so err on the side of caution until you know it's still to big and then take a bit more off.

Either buy really thin leather and use a thin over grip
Or
Do as Irvin said and just use 2 overgrips and no replacement grip

Exclamation Quick Fix

I was in the same situation, but I found a great solution...Take off the original replacement grip, and apply an ACE wrap to the handle as your replacement grip. It's super soft and thin, should bring the grip size down by at least one FULL size. Good luck!

I would buy a thin leather replacement grip, as they seem to compress over time and make the grip sixe seem smaller. I have a 4 1/2 with TW leather, and after a few weeks it feels a little smaller.

Babolat Skin Feel grip. That replacement grip drops a whole grip size (compared to Babolat Syntec).

Depending on how adventurous you feel you could take off the grip and carefully sand the grip until you get the size you want. I have down this with a couple of racquets and it is an effective way to make the grip size smaller.
Don't worry about the amount of weight you will be removing. It will negligible, 2/10 of an ounce or less.

Definitely agree with this. The Babolat sticks that come stock with the Skin Feel grip (e.g., Pure Storm/Tour) have much smaller-feeling grips than those that come stock w/ the Syntec.

That said, if you're looking to go from 3/8 (on a Babolat, that's almost like a 1/2) to a 1/8 is a pretty big jump. I'm not even sure if just taking off the replacement grip and playing w/ an overgrip will do it, and that would involve quite a bit of sanding that I doubt the OP will want to try on his own.

You're almost better off selling your 3/8 stick and getting one with the proper grip size, especially since it's causing you pain.

Exactly! Compared the grip of a stock PD and a PS. The Pure Storm is smaller because of the grip size.

As said, it only drops about 1 grip size. So what I suggest is....

When you apply it, stretch the grip like there's no tomorrow.
