Congratulations to Djokovic. After a long time someone beat Nadal over 5 sets. Another bastion crashed.

cf. this thread (in the 'former pro' section):
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=414858 shouldn't we include the following 'diamond racquet' results ? Quote:

Is it only those four from the most recent DC? I don't follow DC too closely and rely on you and Mustard to keep me in line - - - Go ahead and create the Muller 5-set post (with nothing else) and I'll link to it in the OP - - I'd like to get Mustard's opinion on both Nastase and the 'Diamond Racquet' issue. If he concurs, then update Nastase... let me know and I'll update the OP. Last edited by Bud : 02-27-2012 at 12:49 PM. |

We started it before the ATP started listing 5-set results. The ATP site still doesn't list the actual matches played .. just states the win/loss record. I'll keep it going until that happens. - - BTW, if you like it.. give it some 5-star love Last edited by Bud : 02-27-2012 at 12:50 PM. |

This is one of my favorite threads. Bud and Mustard have done an amazing job with this. Great to follow and very informative.
I do appreciate the effort.

Also no surprise that Sampras has a better record than the crying goat, after all Pete was a lot more mentally tough and had bigger balls.

Hmm. I'm not so sure about that late year Antwerp tournament. It was a very solid tournament and was hard to win. A player got a diamond racquet if they won the tournament 3 times in a 5-year period, but wasn't this tournament classed as an exhibition? On the other hand, it certainly seems a lot more impressive than the Pepsi Grand Slam and the ATP list that on their website.
