I too am hoping but realistically, it ain't happening

Nice that he made another HC slam final, however.

Congratulations to Djokovic. After a long time someone beat Nadal over 5 sets. Another bastion crashed.

Notes:
- first time i see somebody losing a match despite giving a double-bagel to his opponent !
- more importantly, the quantity of best-of-5 matches in the "good old times" is simply amazing. they should really bring back some best-of-5 finals on the tour (at least for the final of the year-end masters, please !)
- moose, it seems they now corrected the result of the final for the 1974 masters

i was hoping to 'beat' lendl with nastase... missed, but not by much !
according to this post (from a thread in the 'former pro' section), nastase would be at 42-23 (64.6 %)... but i don't have the complete list yet ! let's see if we get some solid reference...

Default update: including Antwerp results ?

cf. this thread (in the 'former pro' section):
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=414858

shouldn't we include the following 'diamond racquet' results ?
Quote:
F 1986: J.McEnroe - M.Mecir 6-3 1-6 7-6(5) 5-7 6-2
F 1990: G.Ivanisevic - H.Leconte 6-2 7-6(6) 4-6 4-6 6-1

Is it only those four from the most recent DC? I don't follow DC too closely and rely on you and Mustard to keep me in line

- - -

Go ahead and create the Muller 5-set post (with nothing else) and I'll link to it in the OP

- -

I'd like to get Mustard's opinion on both Nastase and the 'Diamond Racquet' issue. If he concurs, then update Nastase... let me know and I'll update the OP.

Thanks!

We started it before the ATP started listing 5-set results. The ATP site still doesn't list the actual matches played .. just states the win/loss record.

I'll keep it going until that happens.

- -

BTW, if you like it.. give it some 5-star love

This is one of my favorite threads. Bud and Mustard have done an amazing job with this. Great to follow and very informative.

I do appreciate the effort.

Hmm. I'm not so sure about that late year Antwerp tournament. It was a very solid tournament and was hard to win. A player got a diamond racquet if they won the tournament 3 times in a 5-year period, but wasn't this tournament classed as an exhibition? On the other hand, it certainly seems a lot more impressive than the Pepsi Grand Slam and the ATP list that on their website.

I'm reluctant to include it if the ATP doesn't include it on their website stats. I'd like the info here to match that as closely as possible.
