Ive gone all yellow for now, will pick up an Angell next month...

Not been playing lately due to illness, work and sorting my son's christening but ive been doing a lot of mental manipulations and indeed regimented research into what works and what doesnt, what I like and what I dont in a racket of distinction. Anyways the volkl/becker shape stands out, most manouverable sticks Ive played with and at the weight i like to use them at they still remain top of the tree. It was interesting to see a volkl 98 today and how much rounder my Becker Legend felt in the hoop, so my ideas that a dense pattern would not bother me (like the Legend) suddenly made me feel that it had to be an open pattern as a volkl 98 feels more like a 95......so Im thinking mold (tick), pattern (tick), now what I wanted was the flexy steeliness of my dnx mids, hmmmmm, kevlar/graphite make up, low 60's flex, hmmmmm, a fooking c10 pro, gotta be yellow, its arriving in a couple of days.

Now obviously I need a second new yellow one. The only pisser in all this is I sold my volkl bag, yes the best bag ever a couple of weeks ago........doh!

PP - Cheers for gut advice earlier.

Fed - I've just stuck to 16L Tour Bite so can't say about other gauges.

Meags - RE the C10 Pro, and in reference to some earlier posts about how power comes from timing or whatever, the number one attribute for me with this frame is precisely that - timing... For some reason the balance and weighting here just really works for me personally. The only thing in my experience that compares to it in this regard are the Prestiges. It's just a super sweet swinging rac that you can really get that timing grooved and tee off into the ball so smoothly. In other respects it perhaps doesn't quite suit my game as much as the APD and that type of frame, but, yes, I'm a big C10 fan so pleasantly surprised to see you focussing your professorial racketaholic attention on it. Let us all know how the Angell V C10 battle goes.

Bad call and i got rained out before we coukd really start grooving, but his serve is just better with the yonex..noticed it most on kickers..they were coming off the court very high.

PP- those were slice serves. didn't throw up any kickers. maybe try some next time out.

I used one for a short time a while back, it kinda got lost in the mix of trialling several rackets. I got an offer for my old dnx mids plus bag plus two more sticks, good deal but top much money. There's also a lot to be said about how I played with my Becker legend, its just about getting a couple of the variables right. The main issue now is string, back to TB I think....

I got out to hit last night with a REAL solid 4.0-4.5. Jeez man what a wake up call. Dude was hitting winners off both wings all day. Good court coverage, monster returns, nice pop on volleys, but the major things that stood out was his control and consistency. It seemed like he had every shot in the book whenever he needed it.

As for me, i was serving relatively well. Really getting him stretched out wide on the duece side, but he was still smashing returns wherever he wanted. I only hit one ace and forced a handful of errors from plain service variety. I had to play my absolute A game to win points off him. A very solid 4.0 grinder. Nothing was pushed at all. I punished the few floaters I could force, but I probably won 20/150 points lol. That guy could tee off a 2 hander like a boss. I'm doubting if I should start off in 3.0 or not. I wanna play competition like him more often.

The RDiS 200 stood up well. His shots were heavy and penetrating but the RDiS did not falter. The main reason I hit out so much was hitting late and off balance. Serves felt easy after a solid warm up and volleys were comfortable. Drop shots... I wanna say I hit good ones but he got to them all. I think it was mostly the timing of my dropper, but he was also fast.

I really got to increase my level to make sure I get my sweetspot early on the ball.

Great stick. I'm loving it. I'm gonig to try full poly next.

Ross its a difficult one, I love tb in all but twangy feel. It all depends on the racket, I really liked it in the dnx mid but I may just go low with one of the Yonex polys, the blue spin is great but low powered for great serving, the yellow string which could look the dogs blx in the yellow c10 is as good a poly out there, decent full feel of a round smooth string but with the grip of shaped string.

Its confidence tho and there's nothing better than swinging thro with fresh tb knowing your shots will go in.

Ross - what happened with the gut/poly? That is the best setup if you can get enough hours out of it. There is nothing better for me to this day. I still want to go full gut down the road, I just know I will break it too fast.

Well hour 7 on Black Magic and the "magic" feeling is gone. Still not too bad as there was a couple days in between hits. I really think this is a top quality poly and combined with the price it is really hard to match. It's playability, pocketing , feel and easy power make this a really good match for the IGPP. Tourbite will always be one of my favorite strings but I find it better in softer sticks like the PB 10 mid.

yep..i have a softer stick...im leaning towards the polybreak..it basically reminds me of RPM blast except cheaper and never moves.

I will try the BM this week though.

So yeah, figured you guys might find it interesting...

The last few days I've been GOATing it up with a semi-heavily leaded Pure Storm LTD. I have four 6ish inch strips of lead at 3 and 9. No idea what the weight or SW is but it hits such a monster ball I love it. Strung with Prince Synthetic Gut 17 @ 55lbs. Sadly it only lasted 2 hours of hitting and I'm getting it restrung tomorrow.

I have a few sets of PHT 17 and a few sets of RIP 16 left. I'm not sure what to throw in there, any suggestions with either string and if so what tension? I've never used a poly in it but it seems pretty tempting with the low flex and heavy weight to put a more spin orientated string in!

Look forward to hearing fellow holic' thoughts!

PSL responds quite nicely to very low tensions. It's such a control stick that you can go super low and still keep the ball in. How's the serve with that stick? Coaxing mustard out of the serve was the one thing I was just never able to do with that stick. Otherwise, fantastic.

What happened with the Yonex tour poly??

I also agree that TB for me plays better in flexier sticks, bc20 from the back was bliss and dnx10mid all round played very well with TB......

Great string and I will likely buy a reel of this as well now that it is available in the graphite black. Pricing wise they are very similar and the Yonex does seem to last slightly longer before going dead (splitting hairs). Due to the thinner gauge and better feel when fresh, I find Black Magic a better match in the IGPP.

How does the Yonex Poly Tour compare with the Pro's Pro strings ? Reckon it would suit an APD?

Re various strings/set ups I want to look into and experiment with, tonight I'm going to purchase some WC Scorpion (have fancied checking this out for a while), gut (will see what's decent and available at an affordable price), something like Forten Sweet to hybrid (poly) with, and some TB (I haven't actually played it for a bit).

Ah yes, I do love a little paypal raid on strings!

Have you all tried Signum Hyperion Pro and moved on? I have hit with it in two rackets. One is the new Head Prestige mid. It felt superb. The other is the original Prince EXO 3 Rebel. It felt terrible.

Cool! I'll definitely try it out then!

Serving big isn't too much of an issue for me, I've always had a pretty live shoulder. I really like as it hits a "Heavy" serve rather then just a fast one. I'll probably end up switching to it full time soon once I find a string set up I really like.
