Hey, could you tell me what version PS 85 I have? My guess is Taiwanese:

It says "Braided Construction Exclusively Manufactured by CHIAO TA" on inside of the throat. How does it differ from other versions?

Also, does Wilson still sell the grommet strips and bumper guards for it?

Thanks.

Ever try the vapor 3's? I think they are great!

I think all the CHIAO TA 85's are made in China, and TW sells the grommets/bumperguards

No, I'm not sponsored. After the Oscillates were disontinued , I happened to go to a tennis store to buy two pair of shoes (I wasn't sure what I was going to buy). While trying on shoes I noticed there was an Oscillate box in my size. So, I asked the owner how much? He told me he would make me a deal if I cleared out all his Oscillates. So I bought all of them (around 10 pairs) for 25 each. So instead of buying 2 newer models for around $ 200, I got 10 pair of Oscillates for $250. Then about 6 months ago I went back to the same store to buy some lead, and he had found a bunch more in the back, so he offered them all to me for 20 bucks each----of course I took it. I have around 25 pairs. All the ones in the photo are brand new never worn. There are also about 6 different styles.

As for the vapor 3's I have never tried them. The only other "newer" shoe I have tried is the Nike Motions (which I really liked), and someone gave me a free pair of Breathe Free II's (which I use for walking-I didn't like them for tennis----too much cushion).

I have so many oscillates it will be a long time before I need to buy or use another type of shoe. Each pair lasts me anywhere between 3-5 months depending how often I play.

Yup, it will definitely be a long time before I have to fork out $100+ for a new pair of shoes. All in all, I paid $450 for 20 pairs of shoes. That same 450 would of only bought me 4 of the newer styles.

Drakulie, that is sick dude. I had several pairs of the black ones and the silver ones. Those were my favorite versions of the oscillates. The white ones were a little too plain for me.

Yeah, the black ones are my favorites too, then it would be the SE Versions on the upper right. The white one are very plain, but were the most popular so the guy I bought them from had mostly white ones. For $22 a pop, you can't beat it.

drakulie - are you a Sampras devotee or what?

Wilson PS 85 with lead tape at 3 & 9 o'clock - check.
4 5/8 grip size with Tournagrip overgrip - check.
Unique Sampras vibration dampener - check.
one handed backhand - check.
Nike Air Oscillate collection (large) - check.

....denim bed cover....Pete's probably got that too.

Actually, McEnroe is my all-time favorite. I started using the PS 85 shortly after switching from the Dunlop Black Max and 200 G back in the mid to late 80's. I still have my first Black Max.
Never played with a two-hander. Back when I started playing that form was non-existent.
Lead tape: Very little, and only at 3 & 9.
Grip: 4 3/8
String: Ashaway Kevlar Crossfire II, 16 gauge.

The shoes? Well I switched form the K-Swiss Oscillators? Used the motions, implosions, and finally settled on the Oscillates. So there you have it.

The rest of the stuff I'll give you. And yes, the denim bed cover is made from old Pete Sampras Denim Shorts LOL.

PS: Although I love Pete, I always rooted for AA.

Thanks drakulie - just pokin' fun.

I know what it's like to find a shoe that fits and plays just right. When I find a pair that I like, I buy like four pairs or whatever I can afford at the time to tide me over for a while.....
