Ok so I bought a set of Rip Control last week and strung it in a Flexpoint Radcial Tour (16x18, 343g, 329 swingweight), my favorite stick but its more powerful than my Prestige MPs so I need a control string for it. I love it with full polys, but I can't play them due to arm issues. So I strung Rip Control at 61 lbs and....absolutely hated it. The power level was low, no problems there, but it moved like crazy, I mean craaazy, it drove me nuts. I get agitated just thinking about it. I was adjusting strings after every single point and couldn't get them even close to straight, ever. I'm going to put some string savers in to see if that helps, if not I'm going to cut them out, something I HATE to do.
So I still haven't found a good multi setup for the FXP Radical Tour MP. I'm back to my Prestige MPs, two with Quasi Gut and one with Natural gut, I like those setups but miss the extra spin and stability I get with the FXP Radical Tour.

How did you like the playability? I'm glad that I'm not anal about string movement like a lot of people here. The RIP/Mantis combo I used, the RIP stayed almost perfectly in place in the mains. The Mantis crosses moved all over the place though. |

EVERY single multi is going move in that setup. Every one. 16x18 string pattern, high static and swing weight. It's impossible for non-poly strings not to move and get out of place in that setup. Did you pre-stretch the strings before hand? The only exception to movement might be Recoil but I have no experience of that string.

Yeah I am anal about it, I'm gonna end up getting committed some day because of it. I thought the playability was ok, especially on the first few hits of any given rally, its not a natural gut like response, definitely muted but I could take nice cuts at the ball like with poly and was getting good control and spin. But with an open pattern and hefty frame after a 4 or 5 ball rally the string would move all over the place and I would start getting inconsistent responses, especially on off center hits. Hopefully the savers will help, if not i'll see if I can get something different in just the mains. Anyway, thanks for sharing the good info you have so far in this thread!

FYI Quasi Gut moved more for me than RIP. It felt a lot like RIP without the spin. It did have a little more touch though. |

I'm going to string #2 racket at 62# & my #3 with all synthetic gut just to compare side by side.

So I played last night. Started with the RIP Control. Got up a break 3-1 and then hit 4 straight long shots. So I grabbed my RIP/Mantis hybrid. Hit a few horrible drop shots and double faults on break point that cost me the set. So I used the Intellitour the entire 2nd set. That did not fix me double faulting on 2 more break points and match point in the tiebreaker, but it definitely feels better to me than the RIP. We had about 15 or 20 rallys where there were 20 or more shots and I was able to win about half those, so this string definitely has great control on groundies.
So the first string I'll be cutting out is the full RIP job. My first opportunity to string may not be until Sunday when I'm going to start converting all my rackets to full Mantis jobs. |

Spin is about the same as the Mantis maybe slightly less. Comfort is better than RIP Control but not as soft as the Mantis. Control is also in between the RIP and Mantis. The RIP/Mantis setup plays a lot like Intellitour it just feels a little stiffer to me. |

Just got an e-mail from a company that shall not be named. Looks like I'll be trying one more string!
"I hope this e-mails finds you well.As we greatly value our customer's feedback, let me know if you would be interested in testing out a new concept multi-fillament string for us. If so, please provide us with your address and whether you will be able to provide us with an in-depth review within 3 weeks of receiving the string." |

Well my MANTIS/RIP setup finally snapped tonight right at the end of a singles match--once the coating came off the string did not last much longer. Got a good solid 8.5-9hrs or so out of this setup. I am thinking of trying intellitour next--mainly because there is no Mantis available at TW (THANKS MIKELER's MULTIS) and I'm interested to see how it will play compared to the Mantis/RIP. I still have one freshly strung Mantis/RIP waiting on me so I should be good for my tourney this weekend.
