well, i tried the Red Code with Thunderblast.
it was a really nice start-off for hybrid set up.
it felt very different, with everything feeling silky smooth

but i think it was a bit too soft.
i did a 54/53, and some of the strokes just came flying long,
not enough control.
any thoughts on that?

so, anyway, i think i'll order a poly reel now.
so what are my best options for a good spinner, not too stiff,
100$ TOPS? (preferably lower price than that )

thanks!

B5E. Dammit thats over, maybe cheapen it by using OGSM cross?

I fell in love with B5E apparently my friend strung B5E with RPM crosses so idk, was like a black angel.

i have not played with the b5e yet, it's next in line and then comes tour bite.

my experience with red code nevertheless was that it tended to be a little bit harsh on offcenter shots and i experienced a second considerable tension drop around the 7 hours mark which had a negative impact on control. ruff code started out a bit softer than my recollection of red code but kept that silky feeling and did not go dead until it broke at the 10hrs mark approximatively. it is currently one of my favourite strings for the mains, paired with mcs nevertheless! it can behave completely different when mated with another cross, so trying it out is the only way to find out, as also is tuneing in on the tension - i had the experience that with some strings even 0.5kg could make a really big difference, specially in the feel department!

How was the softness/comfort/power? My big thing is softness ( for injury issues) and then power. I just got some nxt and iso speed control and will try them in the next couple weeks.

RIP Control is not soft, not comfortable, and not powerful. Surprisingly, it doesn't hurt my arm, and I've had elbow problems with other strings including other multifilaments.

thanks.. but price wise ruff code is not in my league.
B5E is less than 100$? (if i'll manage to find one)

* damn it's priced at 120 $ !!
and i also need it sent to Israel.

*should i settle for Polystar energy? seems decent.
what gauge?

sorry, my fault - i was looking at 108 per reel as seen on tw-europe, but did not pay attention to the fact that it was euros and not usdollars.
i've seen some german online stores sell the reel of ruff code for 99.90 euros!, but i don't know what the shipping to israel would be.

Polystar is 90$.. i need something around that price.
if there's no other good options i'll go for the Energy.

i have not yet had any useful playing experience with polystar strings.

a lower priced poly which is also spinning a bit is the msv focus hex, preferably 1.23mm. but if you want to go real low and have very decent performance, give the pro's pro blackout a try. for the past 4 hitting hours i could not find any difference when hitting back-to-back with the tecnifibre black code!

I tried PSE 1.25mm in a full bed a few months ago. For about 45 to 60 minutes it may be the best poly I've ever hit with.
But that window closes quickly due to tension loss. It drops like a rock..

hey, aren't all those pentagonal etc. shapes rip through multis?
has someone had a decent durability of shaped polys with a multi?

with the strings i tried so far, i have not experienced this "ripping" through the multis. i get some 4-5 hitting hours out of mcs, putting in some stringsavers for the last hour. this is really good for this string - believe me.
previously, i had the mantis power syn in the crosses and i got to some 8 decent hitting hours, without stringsavers though.
the worst for me was tf multifeel, which in 1.30 lasted less than 3 hours (no stringsavers).

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I'll be buying a 2nd Pure Drive Plus racquet from TW and want the same strings as I put on my old Pure Drive Plus. So, I'm looking at Head RIP Control 16 string. Does this sound like a decent all around choice for a recreational player like myself?

Thanks again for all the help.

if you basically like the black code, than blackout would be in my opinion a safe bet.
in my thread which i haven't updated for a while, will do so when i'm through with the black code (probably next week), i described the blackout-experience. check the "structured/shaped poly playtest" for more detailed information.

NXT is a great string: gut-like feel, great control, decent spin, and doesn't move much for a multi. I think the power level is low, but I can't say for sure because I just switched racquets. I already see signs of fraying after 5 hours, which I expected based on past experience.
Definitely interested in how your new PK performs especially relative to the 7G.

B5E as a cross shredded through my Unifibre gut in less than 3 sets but B5E as a main string allowed MCS to last over 10 sets as a cross.
