Is one of the symptoms buying a stringing machine if you don't have one (like I did last week)?

I'd look at having a stringing machine more as a predisposed condition, almost always found in conjunction with the disease yet independent from the disease itself.

I've had my machine for almost 19 years now...the disease just hit me in the past 3-4 years. I'm trying all of the medication the beer and whiskey threads have advised but to no avail.

I started out my warm up today with Pros Pro Gut Power. After about my 5th ball that hit the back fence (no joke), I picked up the NXT. Went with that a few games and then found myself down again in the first set. Went to MicroFibre but my opponent was zoning. Stayed with it until I prevailed in the 3rd.

Think I may cut out NXT today and do a review.

i tried signum pro micronite as a cross, what an awesome string. It lasts forever and plays great until it breaks.

What poly did you pair it up with? How long did it last as a cross? After hitting with Discho Microfibre for over 2 sets again today, I'm reasonably confident that it is the same string as Micronite. I'll be buying a reel of the Discho once I complete my string testing.

Speaking of strings that are the same with different names, I cut out NXT and put in Pro's Pro Hi-Tec Multifibre. I'm pretty confident that this string is Mantis Comfort Synthetic. I'll know for sure once I play with it.

I've only got 2 strings left to test after this. The Discho Microfibre 17g and the Pro's Pro Gutex Ultra 17g. Then I think this thread will be taking a much deserved break!

I tried it with both Luxilon savage and Weiscannon Scorpion. Scorpion is better. It lasted about 10 hours, the poly was dead long before the cross broke.

Default NXT = Overrated

Here is my review in the TW format of the Wilson NXT 16.

Probably the easiest string to install. It went in like a charm.

Tension it is strung: 60 pounds on a lockout machine full bed
Your regular string set up: Weiss Cannon Black 5 Edge 17 Mains(52#)/Genesis Thunder Blast 16 Crosses(56#)
Racket: Pro Kennex 7G (this is different than the others tested in the Babolat PST+)
String pattern of your racquet: 16 x 20
Power (or lack there of): Medium/High
Feel: Below Average
Tension maintenance: RacquetTune (RT) showed a 15.3% drop in tension before I cut the string out.
Price: $16.95/set
Overall comments and feedback: See below

General: This is a below average multi with a premium price tag.

Serve/Return of Serve: Nothing special on serves. It did not seem like I could get enough spin on 2nd serves to fend off attackers. Returns were lackluster.

Strokes: This string does not have great spin potential. If I was in an offensive position, the string did what I needed it to do. Since I play mostly hard hitters, I'm often scrambling for their shots. I had no control on balls that were hit hard to me. So many went into the back fence.

Net Game: Average

Touch shots: Below average

Softness: One of the stiffest multis around. I'd put it right there with Thunder Blast, Addiction and TNT2. I actually broke my scissors cutting the strings out!

Tension: If I had to playtest again, I'd string it at 95 pounds in the hope that it would break on the stringer.

Durability: After almost 7 sets, there was some mini fraying going on. It looked like the string still had some life left.

Movement: Not too bad.

Conclusion: This string feels more like a solid core string to me. It does not inspire confidence in my game. It hurts my elbow too. I'm just not a fan of Wilson strings in general I suppose.

I had some time to string this afternoon, so I decided to give the Pro's Pro Pulse a bounce test. It felt softer than I remembered yesterday until I started hitting the ball high and then I could feel it in my elbow. So I cut it out (sorry Fortun8son) to put in Discho Microfibre 17g.

One thing I just noticed is that Micronite is offered in 1.32 mm and 1.27 mm while Microfibre is offered in 1.30 mm and 1.25 mm. So assuming the truth is being told, that may be the only difference between the strings.

I gave the Microfibre 17g the ball bounce test and it feels even better than the 16g. It may be as soft as MCS. I'll have to test it on court though.

I thought I'd share this since I brought it up earlier with positive response. It's quoted from GG blog comments.
It is called Big Fantum and the shipment arrived in the USA earlier this week. It is currently clearing customs. We should have it by next week. WeissCANNON is VERY excited by the performance of both of these new offerings.
The "both" is referring to Dual Real and Big Fantum.

Playtest contender?

It better get here soon! I'm about ready to commit to a reel of the Discho.

Before you commit find out if they sell reels from the one you like.

I plan on testing the Discho 17g version this week so I can compare it to the 16g version.

I see the reel from that one you like (microfibre) in a european website, but not in Ray website.

Ray has indicated that he can order a reel once I know what I want.

You still only using natural gut? The 17g Microfibre is probably as soft as MCS and some guts.
