You have a thread? Just kidding of course. I just ran into the 10,000 character limit in post #1 so I had to delete the original post to keep all the rankings there. Kinda sad.

Would still love to find a multi that somewhat approximates the feel and performance I get from a gut/hybrid setup (in my case, Pacific Classic/Co Focus). But the only thing that's been even reasonably close was X1 Biphase, and as has been pointed, out, that stuff feels pretty good for a VERY short time, after which control is gone.

Main reason I'd love to find an alternative is just ease of stringing. Gut is kind of nerve wracking for me as a layman stringer who does a couple of sticks a month, and poly is a pain. Multis just string up so much more easily, but to date, the performance just isn't there.

From a stringing standpoint, it is always nice to do full beds of multis that are just plain easy to string.

I may delay testing Ashaway Dynamite. There are too many reviews with people complaining about the stiffness of the string. Perhaps they did not adhere to the manufacturer's recommendation to string it 10-20% less but I can't take a chance.

Weiss Cannon Turbo Twist is soft as a multi but is a copoly. At least you wont have to worry about the gut while stringing..

Well, not as soft as a multi but one of the softest copolys, if not the softest.

Hi Mikeler,

Did you ever tries the hybrid combination of multis + (poly / syn gut). Don't want to use polys because of the arm issues.

If multi's won't last long what's the alternative to increase the durability.

Thanks..

I have not tried multi/poly or multi/synthetic gut combos. I don't think they would last long enough for me. Now poly/multi will last awhile for me.

Finally got to string up some PPA on an old Hyper Hammer 5.3 OS.
He wanted better tension maintenance than Sensation after 7 months! LOL.
Was not thrilled with the ghosting or the sticky squeak.
No worse than Sensation or X-1 ( and waay better than HollowCore), and I've come to love that squeak from PSGD.

IMO The Prince squeak/creak is kinda like the MCS smell, part of the package.

Squeak? I don't recall that. Ghosting does not bother me. After a set or two, I can beat up the string enough that you don't see it anymore. If you ever get to DM or Micronite, they are bright ghosters.

You do get ghosting on PPA natural and DM. It doesn't bother me either, but if you string for customers you might want to try PPA black. It doesn't ghost, and as far as I can tell, it plays the same as the natural.

Mikeler, I tried it last year, although it was the "soft" version. It lasted 45 minutes, and I am not normally a string breaker.
