Hey Mike, which multi so far is the most slipperiest. Meaning which multi seems to move and go back to the original position most often? Also which notches less?

I think you are asking which strings move the least? I'd have to go back in and look at all my reviews for string movement but I can say that the Babolat Xcel does not move very much and it does not seem to notch much.

I'm going to put the Babolat Xcel aside when I play tomorrow. I want to have that available when I play a really good player on Saturday. Not sure if I'll play with the Prince Premiere or the NRG2 tomorrow.

It sounds like Xcel does move a lot but its so slippery it moves back to where it was. Thus the reduced notching. Sounds like a really good multi. I bet you could get some insane topspin with the right tension.

I'll finish up with the 4 multis I still have at home and then I may buy one more batch of multis to test out and that should last me until May.

My thinking now is to put in a TW order for these to get the free shipping:

ISOSPEED Energetic Plus 16 String $8.99
Kirschbaum Touch Multifiber 16 (1.30) String $14.30
Prince Recoil 16 String $18.00
KLIP Excellerator 16 String $12.99
Solinco Vanquish 16 (1.30) String $12.50
Volkl Gripper 16 String $13.99
Head FiberGEL Spin 16 String $7.95

Then maybe finish up with Maxim Touch 16. After that, I want to pick one and go with it.
Have you tried Alpha Gut at all? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

It did not move very much at first. Around set #7 the strings started moving quite a bit more.

I have not tried Alpha Gut because from what I've read the durability is poor. Have you tried it?

Playing tennis in about an hour. Current temp is 78 with 40% humidity. I may just try and bust out the Xcel today.

Got 9 hours on Xcel now. It refuses to yield and is still hanging in there.

^^^ It frays usually quite badly before it breaks, so unless its very obviously thin in certain spots, it will last a while. How you finding the performance at 9 hours? Have the characteristics changed much in your view during those 9 hours?

Didn't see that you tried the Yonex 850. Did that get bumped?

Volleys were not as crisp today but was probably my fault more than anything. Hit a few balls way long but they were hard shots by my opponent so I can't really blame the string for that either. Finally lost a set with it today in a breaker. It was windy and I played a spiny lefty which is always tough.

The only problem I have with Xcel is that the strings loosen and stretch over time which makes the stringbed more powerful, but I guess you get that with all strings to varying degrees. So as a result, I tend to prestretch. Makes the string a bit stiffer initially but the subsequent tension loss and stretching due to play is more gradual.

Yes. If I don't break Xcel after 4 more sets, it will get the scissors on Sunday.

Something I can navigate easier. Wait! I just went back and checked it. Looks like they had a website redesign. Not bad now.

I do think it has become slightly more powerful. I've got serious fraying and decent notching going on with it.

Just for kicks and giggles check out this poll for strings of the year for 2010. There are a bunch of categories. Tecnifibre X-One Biphase leads all categories for multis ( non poly) except for one. Its probably too powerful for you Mike but maybe with the added spin it gives your ball will land shorter. It does rank the highest in comfort so thats a plus. http://www.stringforum.net/string2010.php

No worries, as others have said, I appreciate all the testing you do. On the Yonex string, my pro told me it was crap, LOL...plus he said that Wilson made it for Yonex. He's represented a couple different string companies, so I trust what he tells me. Thoughts...does Yonex make their own string?
