As you can tell from post #1, I tried a RIP/MCS hybrid both ways. With RIP in the mains, it was not very good. With MCS mains, the RIP chewed threw it in 2 sets. So I'm not convinced that RIP would be great in a multi/multi hybrid.

mikeler,
what durability do you get out of the thunderblast?

as i will soon order the genesis line of shaped strings i might as well add a set of thunderblast and xplosion to this order.

as you seem to like solid core multis too, you might want to give the mantis power syn a shot too. i have "rediscovered" the mcs though and i don't think i'll go back to the power syn any time soon.

I get about 15 hours out of Thunder Blast as a cross string with B5E mains. It is lower powered versus the higher powered Xplosion. The only plans I have to try new setups is with the gut PVAudio sent me months ago. I'd like to try it in the crosses with B5E mains.

That is a lot of string to test. Get off this message board and get on the court!

i just came back from a hitting session today and "re-started" some of the strings i have to some extend liked in the prior outings. today was the first session with pro's pro blackout / mcs after having "recalibrated" with the mantis power poly / mcs combo. definitely not the same league but for the price here in europe it is really a very very interesting string - you get a 200m-reel for around 24-27 euros incl. shipping!

next up will be tecnifibre black code and than your much coveted black5edge.

by the way, i'm trying to add one weekly session with a former club-colleague, so that i get some 6 hitting hours per week. that would be about a set per week, so it looks like i'll have at least the next year a quite busy schedule.

Firs thanks for the advise.

I strung one racket with Scorpion/Explosive! 25/26kg. Explosive name should be Skunk because it's smells so bad. In the beginning i felt that setup had a too much power for my liking (played with full bed of SPPHextreme before that). After half of our i felt that I had find the groove. I found exellent comfort and a lot of spin on groundies and on serve. Spin was MUCH better than with full bed of Scorpion- this was positive suprise.

I strung second racket with B5E/VS Team 17 25/26kg. I hold my breath when doing last 2 crosses (firs cut job). More power than first setup, spin is wery good, on the net this setup feels great and comfort is good. I tyed this setup first time in competition when warming up and because it felt good i didn't but it down.

For me first setub is more controllable when attacking hard. I used this when i started to lose some points with gut. Also consistency on first flat serve was better (suprise). The weakest thing from second setup was blocking first flat serve... too much power.

Conclusion: gut in crosses is good for me when hitting with friends, but sometimes when you are competing at lower level (or having bad day) there is more help from forgiveness of multi. I will hit more with (Tonic +) because I have it for 4 rackets and will decide after that, what I will be using as my main setup.

Will try next Scorpion/gut at 25/26kg.

Mcs is the best of the smelly multis.

Please just get to page 100. It's bothering that you are stuck at 99.

I have to agree with U&C. Page 99 is old and busted, we need a new and shiny 100.

Never tried MSV hex, sorry. Now I'm going to get all anal about getting to page 100, never noticed that before. I might just turn this into my personal blog for a day.

You have wery nice tase

Btw: the setup Scorpion/Explosive feels more hand friendly whitout dampener than B5E/cut. I think its coming from B5E.

I have not tried B5E. You must really be impressed? I might have to give it a trial run.

It is perfect for my game since it is lower powered and spinny. Using the new Genesis Thunder Blast in the crosses gives the setup some nice controlled pop. I've never found a better setup for volleying.
