Default Name these rackets and get free string!

I've been collecting "odd" rackets for a few years. Just for fun, I'll send a set of string to the first person who correctly names each of these rackets:

P.S. If anyone has a really odd racket that they don't see on the wall in 9/10 or better condition that they want to sell or trade please let me know.

* I couldn't figure out how to get the picture to show up in the thread?

I see a TAD Topspin, a Maynard air tube racquet, an Ergonom, 2 Jenros, a Wilson Legacy, a Wilson Sting, an Ergonom, an Erge, a Gripper, a Superform, a PK Micro, a Seamco, a Chris 5-Star, a Blackburne, a MacGregor Bergelin, something that looks like a Wilson TX6000, a Spin racquet and I have no idea what the other ones are. One looks like a MadRaq, the other looks like the concept racquet from Virtua Tennis 2009 and the blue one looks like an ancient Pure Drive.

I'm actually FAR too young to know any of these:P BTW, since you wanted an odd racquet, I have a Tretorn removable head. Drop me a mail if you're interested.

Nice collection !
I really enjoy seeing all those transitional period rackets.
There was soo much excitement in racket design during that era, now its all about making rackets lighter, stiffer, and more aerodynamic using nanotechnology

I have enjoyed seeing your odd racquet wall and have each of the racquets in my Tennis Racquet Hall of Fame. You will see most of them in the US Open Room http://photobucket.com/alamocrest

I think I can name them all with the exception of the blue one on the right which is not very clear and I am not sure if I have this one. Can you isolate and enlarge this one for better identification. It is also difficult to see the degree that it is odd unless it can be enlarged.

I am surprised that you have a Big Volleyer in your collection. I have not seen another one in a collection or in a publication. Mine does not have a company name that made it and the only other indicator is the racquet handle size of 4 1/2.

The 20 racquets are top right to left Fisher Powerwood, MadRaq, Chris 5-Star, Big Volleyer, Blackburne; second row: Davis Topspin, MacGregor Bergelin, Erge, Gripper, Jenro; third row: Lecoste Original, Seamco Rosewall, Wilson Legacy, Wilson Sting, Snauwaert Ergomon, (blue racket not clear enough); third row: Pro Kennex Micro, Fox Bosworth, Maynard Air and another Jenro. If you can clear up the blue racquet I suspect myself and others will be able to identify it.

I do have many other creative and odd racquets in my collection of 4225 racquets. When I am not so busy I will add to the 20 racquets you have presented to us. Thanks!

Oddly, I don't have the Tretorn removable head and would like to add it to the creative racquet section of my collection. I am especially interested in the racquet and a variety of racquet faces. I'm not sure what Rock Strongo's e-mail is or where to locate it so if any one has one available, please let me know. Alamocrest at aol.com

A similar "creative racquet" similar to the "blue racquet" in my collection is the PowerAngle. Of course this racquet has diagonal strings and the stringing system of the blue racquet isn't that clear to me.

I attempted the click on name approach but what I come up with is that contact information is not available for Rock Strongo as is the case when I click your name. Maybe I have not been on the Talk Tennis long enough to have e-mails listed.

Thanks for the affirmation of my collection!

Actually, neither "Rock Strongo", who was awfully close, nor "Hall of Fame", who was even closer, got them completely correct. The very large oval that "Hall of Fame" called a "Big Volleyer" is actually a BBC Titan Graphite (I have a cover which identifies the manufacturer and the racket says "Titan Graphite" on it). I've seen "Hall of Fame's" similar racket in the pictures of his wonderful collection and I'm curious that his doesn't say "Titan Graphite" at the top of the hoop. Maybe they are actually slightly different rackets? Mine came pre-strung with the string savers already in place. It weighs 11.8 ounces (336 grams) and measures 29 1/4" long, 9 3/4" wide with the longest main being 20 1/2"!

"Rock" got the Wilson TX 6000 correct. I thought that would be hard to identify since all the Wilson/Lacoste steels look so similar especially in a small photo. The blue one on the right that everyone was having trouble with is a Power Angle 98. Anyway, below is a listing of the identification of each racket. If "Rock Strongo" and "Hall of Fame" will send me their mailing addresses I'll be happy to send each a set of string - even to Sweden "Rock!"

P.S. Looks like several people want to buy the Tretorn. It will be interesting to see what the final sale price is!

Great post davidedwardclark !
I had not seen the BBC and the rosewall did not look like an alum because of the lighting.

BTW, if anybody really needs a set a string for one of these types of classic rackets, I can surely spare a vintage set of blue swirl syn gut. Best choice excepting victor imperial or other period natural guts for playing; for collecting blue swirl syn gut looks great on a vintage racket.

Thanks for the clarification of your BBC Titan Graphite Racquet. It is very helpful that your racquet came with a cover as mine did not. It is my understanding that there is not a BBC brand indicator on your racquet itself. I do have a BBC Graphite 1000 and the Big Volleyer I have certainly has graphite features like the BBC Graphite 1000 so I am convinced that the Big Volleyer did come from the BBC Company. My racquet also came pre-strung with the string savers in place. It is 29 1/2 long and 9 1/8 wide so it appears very similar but not the same as your Titan Graphite. My BBC Graphite 1000 has the BBC below the open heart.

The BBC The Big Ace pictured in Keubler 2000 is also a very long 71cm and its length "probably did not violate the Prince Patent" according to SK. The Big Ace also does not appear to have the BBC name on it. Kuebler also infers that the BBC racquets might have been been made by the company or the racquets were made to their specifications.

Could it be that the Prince Patent threat led this company to attempt to bypass this USA prior art patient by creating directly or indirectly their Titan Graphite and Big Volleyer Racquets and part of their security operations was to avoid any BBC designations on these racquets? Maybe some historians on this Talk Tennis site will know more about this company and its inner workings. Why did this company only last such a short time? Why did they promote such unique tennis racquets? How did you locate your own Titan Graphite? Does anyone else have these BBC racquets?

I do have all of the Wilson/Lacoste steels but opted for the Lacoste Original as the first of these unique racquets. I couldn't tell from the photo that the wires did not wrap around the frame. I do have a similar mysterious blue racquet and my ProAngle is light blue with some yellow accent markings.

Thanks again for stimulating our thinking regarding odd and creative racquets. I will send my e-mail for the strings as with the number of racquets I could use help with strings. Any string donations or contributions will be appreciated from the Talk Tennis community.

I'd love to find a Hi-Ten at a good price. I see these from time to time but so far they have all been far more expensive than I believe is justified by their rarity. Here are a few more I'd love to find at a reasonable price. If anyone has any leads, please email me.

1. Sp.in G-300
2. MacGregor Tourney (wood head with metal throat)
3. Pirelli Technort B1
4. Bancroft Slingshot
5. Fischer Superform Tuning
6. Dynaspot
7. Weed (The original aluminum model)
8. Lacoste Equijet
9. Rival AU 700
10. Gamma Big Bubba (32” model)

I like your want list and know you will locate them eventually as I have done. I have the Hi-Ten and eight of the listed racquets. I think the most difficult to secure is the Pirelli Technort B1 because of its significant uniqueness. There are some in collections but they have not been visible on the auction circuit because they are so rare and valuable.
I also do not have a Bancroft Slingshot. I wonder if anyone in the Talk Tennis community has either of these two racquets?

This is a nice collection I have not seen yet.

OP would love to add at least one Lacoste Equijet and maybe even any popular Yonex in isometric shape.

On a side note, has anyone seen a heart-shaped tennis racquet? I can't find even a decent picture of it.
