Default Murray discusses his kit with Mark Petchy

Wacthing the BNP Paribas Paris Masters yesterday and saw Murray and Mark Petchy in the locker room having a talk about his kit and what's in his tour bag...

He pulled out some ortho soles and says that it helps with his knees and uses them in his tennis and training shoes.

He then describes his rackets (of which he had 3 in his bag) saying that during the slams he'll have anything up to 10 rackets but less for the Masters.

He explained that P1 have made some changes to his stick from before, he asked for the handle to be made a little bigger becasue as he got stronger he felt he needed a bigger grip to hold on to, particulalry when he gets sweaty as the small grip used to slip out of his hand.

He then went onto to explain how he used to have a lot of weight in the head but has now shifted the balance so that it is more towards the middle (throat area).

He explains how he uses Alu BB in the mains and Bab gut in the crosses and will often change the tension depending on the surface and how he feels.

The string pattern used to be 18X20 and he now has it at 16X19 becasue he believes it gives him a little more power and spin becasue the less number of strings there are the quicker the ball comes off the string bed.

Murray sounds like a proper TT'er!

Very interesting right here. I can see why he would go for a more depolarized racquet, since he hits relatively flat already and counterpunches/volleys a bit.
