Yes he did. But at the 1987 Tournament of Champions at the West Side Tennis Club Rostagno used the HEAD TXP. I know because I have a photo of him using it. I was at the match.

Rostagno did use a Vectris at one stage.
I think it was Carlos Costa who used one of the FT models There are photos of a very young Agassi holding a Strato And I can't believe you're all forgetting Mighty Matt Anger - F200! VS Babs Tanvier photo was actually used in Rossignols 1983 catalogue. It was the F300 she used to use. Woodforde used an F295 to knock Noah out of the Oz Open one year. Not sure if that was when he also beat Courier.

As for Woodforde, although I'm obviously wrong about the US Open I am right in saying that he used Rossignol in 1989. They'd made him a frame designed specially to accomodate the macro string pattern he preferred. I'm pretty sure it's what he was using when he beat Yannick Noah at that year's Aus Open and McEnroe twice during the US season. |

how beautiful that frame was ! I used to hit the ball with a guy from Australia who used them when I lived in Stateline Nevada, we used to practice quite a bit at night at an indoor court (Lake Tahoe). I had just made the transition from my Kramer "firm-flex" wood rackets to the Head Graphite Edge. his name was Lynton Franzi.

I think Kriek may have dabbled in the F100 before the F250. Lastly, I believe Wilander's Prince was a CTS Graduate 90 (or at least that pj), which was one of the thinner, more traditional of the widebodies that were prevalent in that era. I also used the CTSG90 for quite some time after the F250, but I think I made the move before Mats...he copied me. Last edited by dje31 : 11-18-2010 at 06:12 AM. |

Ummmm...Dunlop had one or two other decent pros. Someone called Laver, and another called Graf...and then there was Tony Roche...and Lew Hoad...

Pretty sure the Garcia and Strato were the same racquet, with an almost identical paintjob, save for the name.

That'd make sense. Garcia was primarily a fishing company; I doubt they tooled up just to make tennis racquets.

On Woodforde, are you sure it was the F295? Because that was purple. I remember him using a Black and silver racquet. The FT 5.80 for a very short time.

Kriek used the R40, The Johan Kriek Carbon, and the F250.

Almost certain. I have an anniversary video of the first 10 years of the Oz Open and being the Rossignol disaster that I am it was the first thing I noticed. When i get a chance I'll plug in the VCR and have another look.
