By the way, losing in consolation is still a competitive loss. Its still a tournament with a draw, you agreed and went out and played against an opponent and you went out there to win. Can't see any reason that is not competitive

Total number of players in the ranking is 553.

As far as competitive/non competitive losses, I mean by scoreline.

So 6-4, 6-4, is a competitive loss, while 6-0, 6-1, is a non competitive loss.

So it is "I lost, but it was a good match, vs. I got my butt handed to me"

This is the full ranking via TennisLink. Jolly is #9 on the eligible list. I am #235 on the ineligible list. Obviously, you can see I played the guy who is #1, and let me tell you he is legitimately a top 5.0 - 5.5 level player. I've never played anyone with that level of athleticism and consistency, depth, and spin on his ball. Last year, he finished #2 behind Jaymon Crabb, who didn't play eastern tournies this year.

I'm not sure why people have a problem with the points-based ranking
system in Eastern section. Isn't that what the ATP tour does?
It's just a point based ranking. Like the ATP rankings, it's not a perfect
predictor of whether player A could beat player B or not.
(e.g. some of the top 100 guys sometimes play a bunch of challenger events
to get their ranking back up.)

If I ever find enough money and courage to enter a "real" USTA tournament, you are free to watch me play.
