so I'd say honestly say that Lee's serve didn't quite live up to the claim of 3-digit speed, but it is a darn good serve for his age.
Clearly you were not at the tennis court behind John MacDougaldsonerer's house (close to Katelyn Weinenebergensen's farm) on January 3rd 1946 when Lee served 129.6 mph bombs.

LeeD seems to have some knee issues and is not able to give powerful serves and spins. all in all i want to take all the harsh words i stated before. although not what i expected (i was expecting extremely good or extremely pathetic). all in all i can respect the fact you know the theory and you can apply it in someway. LeeD you the man!

You can download full version of my movie and watch it frame by frame. There are small clouds at places where the ball hit the ground, so you can see my placement - when I do not care about it because I work on huge modifications in my serve sequence. So, basically, this is how my serve does look like when it doesn't work.

It's not about vendetta, guys. I know how I play. I also know that 3.0-5.0 players are unable to see many important details in strokes. So, I do not care about LeeD's rating, it's sufficient that all my tennis friends laugh when I say I'm 3.0. It's legendary here - and this is my "vendetta"

It's about validaty. If you read someone's opinion, you have to know, does he know anything about the game or not. Now I see that LeeD knows something about the game. He looks like a decent amateur player, but it seems that his knowledge is based on pure experience. In my opinion, this is not the best kind of knowledge. Without deep understanding amateur player will be 4.0 at best, after spending a lot of money on trainers. I have never had any tennis lesson. I do not copy pro's technique. I use my knowledge to build models, to optimize them and then I compare results with the best players like Federer. So, it's a totally different kind of knowledge about tennis technique than typical LeeD's advice "you are 3.0, you have to remember that one player will prefer this and the other player will prefer that, choose what's the best for you".

^I think you're taking LeeD's rating too seriously. And like many have posted, he's notorious for rating a little lower. It could be that he's from the 70's and standards were a little different back then.

With just looking at your serves that you posted that went in, I would rate your serve at a 4.0-4.5 IMO. When you start to make less than 65-70% of your serves then I would bump that rating down. This is just for your serves.

Also, there are players that play 3.5 that have a 4.0 serve but the remaining part of their game is a 3.0/3.5.

I would not take ratings on these boards that seriously. Also, if you become overly concerned about ratings, you start to limit yourself. Just continue to work on your game and your rating will determine itself when you play.

Well, there is no absolute correct way to do something. Different people can achieve great things with un-conventional technique. Duval in golf, jonny mac in tennis, that one austrailian bowler that bowls with two hands. The important thing is that you want to be comfortable doing it the way your want. Some people want a concrete model to follow, some people what to discover their own techniques, some people are just weekend warriors that don't expect to get better than a 4.0, a lot don't get better than 3.5.

I was pretty impressed, not so much by the serves themselves, but by the easy fluidity with which LeeD moves.

(yes, yes, any twat can see his ankle is crap atm, but watch how light on his feet he is)

and what a great smile!

Wow, you saw that from that far away. Bravo! It's mine. It's a 6 racket thermo that goes with my Ncodes. A lot of room for extra junk and video equipment.haha

I know someone at our club that has a bag with wheels on it. It's a Head bag/suitcase. We always rib him about where he's going on his next vacation. haha

To play like a pro you have to look like one!

Ajtat411, you do not understand. I do not care about ratings here. But things go serious when a player rates someone as 3.0, writes 10000 advices on the forum and then publish a video where his serves are slower (than mine VERY AVERAGE serves from a VERY RECREATIONAL match), balls are out and placement and angles are quite typical (for a player who wants to show his placement).

All these things mean that LeeD's advices are worth... less than you think they are.

Its a decent serve, particularly accounting for his age..

I would imagine LeeD would rate LeeD a 3.0 with that footage..

I agree that people that are not qualified should not teach, but this is the internet. People are asking for free advice and so you get what you pay for. Sometimes advice is crappy and sometimes you can actually use it. With advice being free, you have to be able to translate that information into your game if you are looking for improvements for free.

If you post videos and someone posts an opinion, it doesn't mean everyone agrees that it is true. It just an opinion. Does LeeD's advice make him less credible because of a video? Maybe, maybe not. For me it depends on what type of advice he is giving and if it makes sense. For me, no matter who gives the advice, 2.0-7.0, if it makes sense and I agree, then I will give it a try and see what happens because I want to improvement my game...for free. If I decide to pay someone to coach me, they better well have a USPTR certification or similar. Just my $0.02.

Ajtat, admit it, you just brought a lefty friend with you and spent all this time trying to boost his serve ability up so he could pass of as LeeD. you save LeeD's rep and get a boost of your own

LeeD, your serve has finally shown itself. Wish you could bend your knees like you always tell us to do
