Stanford got lucky and the match could have gone either way.

Good test against an Indoor Qualifier. Stanford should be undefeated going to Washington, although so will a lot of other teams.

Agreed. The win was not very convincing. Other than some good indiviual results the team will not be creating much luck against notable opponents this year.

eh, having watched a lot of that match, I think Stanford beats TT 7 or 8 times out of 10...Lin's match was the only one that reeeaallly looked like it could have gone either way that Stanford won...Klahn and Klahn-Thacher seemed like they were able to turn it up when needed against their opponents despite the tight scores
but i agree that Stanford did seem to show something lacking at some spots in their lineup that will be exploited by the upper echelon teams...tbd i guess Last edited by mikej : 02-04-2011 at 02:25 PM. |

I heard that Texas A&M got up a break on all three courts in doubles, Texas broke back on all three courts, came down to #2, and Texas won 9-7 at #2 to take the doubles point. Match should be over by now. CORRECTION: Icy roads delayed start until 6 p.m. Match still going on. Last edited by ClarkC : 02-04-2011 at 05:09 PM. |

UCLA looks overrated at #6 win a 4-3 win yesterday over UC-Irvine.
I have to think that Baylor will beat UCLA on Sunday in Waco and the rankings will certainly be juggled next week. |

Texas 4-3 over Texas A&M. I picked Texas A&M to win that one. Comeback in doubles was crucial.
I think that those who picked Stanford 4th in the Pac-10 would have to reconsider by now. UCLA loses Nick Meister and looks shaky. Cal loses to Texas Tech who loses to Stanford. Only USC looks better than Stanford in the Pac-10. I am also wondering how USC will look in May. Newcomer Emilio Gomez sounded like a scary addition. I had visions of him playing #2 and pushing everyone else down a spot. Yesterday he lost at #5 to San Diego. Maybe he is still getting acclimated to college tennis, etc., but I don't think that USC matches up well at 2/3/4 against Tennessee and Virginia. It will be interesting to see USC at the indoors and see if they are truly part of the big 3 at the top as I thought. |

Well, i think it was more of a prospect ranking. UCLA has great future prospect with all the talented Freshmen. I think they will be tough once these kids get more experience in NCAA tennis and playing better tennis. I don't think they are over-rated at all.

If Baylor beats UCLA on Sunday, as I expect, I think that UCLA will not just drop a couple of spots. My guess is that the poll voters will take that opportunity to drop them out of the top 10. We will see on about Tuesday when a new poll is released. |

In fact, at this point, I doubt that UCLA can stay ahead of Cal in the Pac 10 this year. They play on February 26 (at UCLA) and March 25 (at Cal). We will know a lot about the Pac-10 pecking order on February 26.

If Clayton can get to it I think Stanford could end up beating USC both times this year.

big match tonight between kentucky and UVa. i think virginia will be super motivated to get back at kentucky for last year. regardless it should be a very good match. for kentucky to have a chance they will have to win at doubles. i have a hard time seeing any team in the country taking 4 singles matches from UVa this year. but the matches at 1,2 singles should be good.
another thing about Uva's lineup was that after the fall season I would have thought courtney would have played ahead of jenkins but courtney's results having been as dominating as I would have expected them to be at 5.
