You may like the Vapor 8s, it's just about the same plush feeling in the footbed.

Have you ever tried the Asics tennis shoes? A lot of my friends love them for the same reasons you posted.

Try the Asics Gel Resolution 3.

The Asics Gel Resolution series have been the closest tennis shoes to the great cushioned feel I get from my Asics running shoes - but with the support you need in a tennis shoe.

I probably have had about 10 pairs over the last three years since switching over from the "rougher riding" Barricades. The only problem is that the sole wears out relatively fast. But with the 6 month warranty, just return them them and get your second pair for free.

Here are some exerpts from the original Gel Resolution review from Tennis Warehouse that caused me to get my first pair:
"The Asics Gel Resolution doesn't look like your typical tennis shoe. With Asics' strong running heritage, it's no surprise that the shoe looks like it is built for running fast, which is something tennis players do plenty of. At least we like to think we do."
"Overall
After the playtest, it's clear that the Asics Gel Resolution's build does please tennis players. Our playtest team found that these shoes are built for fast court movement. The overall impression was that the shoes felt light on the feet ... our playtesters were impressed with how the shoes held up. The cushioning impressed us with both comfort and responsiveness, and all agreed that the shoes felt great right out of the box."

Here's the video from Asics on the Resolution 3's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqdvqyslf3I

Just one thing additional: if you want to really get a cushioned ride, buy Superfeet Orange or another quality insole to replace the original insole from Asics. (Like all original insoles, the insole in tennis shoes is always one layer of soft foam that quickly compresses down and becomes useless.)

Can't do it my man, the durability is crap. I buy my shoes in bulk since I get them for around half off and I absolutely love vapors but I wear through them in a matter of weeks and I feel like the uppers get a little sloppy and unsupportive fairly quickly. I liked the ballistec 1.3s, 2.3s were okay, but love my 3.3s. I've played in almost every vapor and cage/ballistec shoe since the release of the vapor speeds and the famous max breathe 2s. In addition to those, I've also worn asics GR1, barricade 5's, feathers, and the zoom 2k10s. I'm quite the shoe fiend. But my obsession lies with socks...

I've been playing in my Nike Trainer TLs for that reason. Their pillowy cushioning is unmatched by any tennis shoe. My body doesn't feel as beat up afterwards.
