Different colors would improve it, more cream and crimson.

Kevin Anderson (former Illini) and John Isner (former UGA Bulldog) are playing doubles together at the Madrid Masters! Should be interesting!

Default Questions about doubles

This is a question for all the experts out there. On January 22, Illinois played Notre Dame. In the doubles matches, Illinois put out only two teams and forfeited the third doubles match. They actually won both doubles to take the point and the match 4-3. Kalmanovich, Abdelnour and Hoh did not play in the doubles matches but played in the singles. Abdelnour won, Hoh lost in a 3-set match and Kalmanovich went down easily. Not sure if injury played a part or not.
Have you ever seen a team field only two doubles teams when they had the players to put a team out there. It seems I remember seeing it before but that was because of injury and they were not able to field three teams. It seemed very strange and no one ever gave any explanation for it. Or I didn't hear about one.
It's amazing they won that match.

Illinois-Notre Dame

The explanation at the time was that the coach was ticked off at the effort in doubles from certain players, so he only put out the players who were making 100% effort in practice and in matches, to send a message to the others.

To follow up on that question, when I played collegiate tennis back in the dark ages, we played 6 singles and 3 doubles and they all counted, best of 9 mind you and you didn't have to play the same players in doubles as you did in singles. Is that still the case or must the doubles teams be comprised of the same singles players, because if not, why didn't Dancer let some bench players gain experience at 3rd doubles rather than no team?

You can play anyone from the roster in doubles. Dancer only has seven players on the roster. Apparently, he only thought four of the seven were putting out effort in doubles. That leaves no "bench players" available for the third doubles team.

Thanks. That sounds like what we've been hearing all season. We were lucky to get away with a win on that one.

Solid win for the Illini against Western Michigan but today's match against Auburn is going to be tough. Can go either way.

Not much respect from the Tennis Channel today. I was watching the Rome Masters and the scrolling info on the bottom of the screen started listing upcoming NCAA matches, like this:

Men's NCAA 3rd round: (1) USC vs. Auburn .....
