1-Is the Shock Shield considered an overgrip or a replacement grip?

Both.

2- If its an overgrip. how does it compare with the Yonex overgrip in terms of sweat absorption and overall feel?

Never tried it as an overgrip.

3-Do you use only the Shock Shield or do you use an overgrip on top to protect it a bit from use?

I use Yonex Supergrap on top of it.

2) If I use the Shock Shield and a Yonex overgrip on top, will this increase the size of the grip? And, shall I buy the racket with one size smaller grip size considering this?

3) Is the Shock Shield grip durable? When is it time to change it considering it is meant to absorb shock?

4) Is there any disadvantage about using the Shock Shield grip?

5) How much weight does the Shock Shield add and how does it affect the balance point of the racket?

6) Does the Shock Shield meant to be used by itself or with an overgrip on top?

7) How does Shock Shield compare to a Yonex overgrip in terms of tackiness and capacity to absorb sweat?
I use a Pro Kennex Ki 5x with Shock Shield grip and an overgrip (Supergrap or Viper Dry). I like the combination. It makes the racquet even more comfortable and I don't notice a loss in touch or feel. It does feel like a larger grip size at first, but it compresses over time to where I don't notice the difference. I would not recommend going to a smaller grip size. I never tried it without an overgrip because I'm happy with it on. I actually wanted some added weight on the handle, so the weight was a good thing for me. Most people won't notice the extra weight. I've had SS on both my racquets for over 6 months, and I don't anticipate needing to replace them anytime soon. I think having the overgrip lengthens its life.

I've just had my order come through of these. Only two per pack and the same price as a 3 pack of Pro.

I will report back once I have used it.

just played with the shock shield, liked it very much - better than gamma pro rx, as the gamma has those holes which put you off.

only con about shock was imo it dampened the feeling too much

SS re-grip is doing a decent job here too.

Just finished refurbishment/resurrection of another Profile Hammer 110,
after pretty good success with same model frame in 95" earlier.
The 110 was given thin leather power pads on throat mains;
dayum it's definitely big difference to stock I modded 110.

did they discontinue or something? I had to replace my original PK leather (chose these cause they are heavy) and i finally got used to them.

They get better after the first couple weeks of using them.

No just i need 1 for my k90 as my backup racket, already had a one on my head prestige but bought another for a backup - use my head regular and gel grips do thin out within few months(this what happened to me when i had the gamma rx),
I saw both at £4 each on bay-with free postage - cheaper

I recently put a shock shield hybrid replacement grip on my racket. I put an overgrip over it too. It feels great, but I must say the gel part smells funny, like Eastern medicine or something. It gives me a bit of a headache..

I will be receiving mine tomorrow. Do you guys have any tips specific to applying this grip or is it like any other grip?

Like any other grips, but if u haven't installed thick grips before, just pull really tight,
doesn't matter if u need to keep re-applying it, as it keeps its glue

If I recall, I had to pull really tight to get it all the way to the top of my handle.

Yea, gotta pull it tight. I did not the first time I put the white one on and it was not acceptable. Pulled hard the second try. For the black grip I did it well...

My tip:
When Shock Shield compresses over time, just add second overgrip to get back to the original grip size and springy soft feedback.
(I assume everyone uses an overgrip on white Shock Shield)

I tried using the blue square of SS tester material as a power pad

no good, string just cuts thru it

Just thought I would ressurect an old thread.

I have both my Bio300's with a leather grip, but after each game (about 2 hours) I am feeling a bit of hand ache. Feels like bruising and I'm sure its down to the fact that the leather grip (even with an overgrip) is very firm and unforgiving. No doubts towards the merit of feel and I do like the extra weight it gives in the handle, but I am thinking of giving the Wilson SS a go.

Has anyone else switched from leather to the WSS and what differences did you notice?

It seems to weigh about the same.

Can I expect the racket to feel broadly the same in terms of balance and feel, but with a bit less harsh pressure on my hand?

(P.S. I tried the Wilson SS overgrip - not great. Feels cheap and papery, no great traction on the surface and the gel strip is so thin that I don't think it has any effect at all. I can't see it catching on and overtaking the popularity of Supergrap, WPro or Tourna).

Thicker, softer and more dampened in terms of feedback compared to leather from what I can remember.

From what I've read on here, it seems like it is still firm, but not hard like leather, which sounds good to me. I don't want a squishy soft grip.

I believe its thicker than leather as well, so I'm guessing that it would be about the same thickness as leather plus an overgrip. Which again is fine.
