Revenge- particular sound?

I read that Babolat Revenge string have a particular sound to it when hitting the ball. Why is this?

Will this sound or effect occur even using gut crosses?

It has a REALLY nice pop sound. Nothing out of the ordinary.

What string would you recommend as a cross to soften Revenge up? For a big topspin hitter, is it good? How many aproximate hours of play?

I would like gut as a cross but, considering that the Revenge will die fast (being it a poly), maybe it is to expensive.
