I didn't see the overrule on #2 - but Nadine didn't do Reka any favors on #1 when she got the point penalty after her match - resulting in the point penalty being assessed to Reka as the next highest (well, actually, only) match being played. |

I hadn't understood that chain of events, but the chairs getting involved the way they did also added to the drama. As far as Reka's style of play, someone who claimed to have been watching her throughout juniors told me that's always been her mo. |

Anyone know which teams will be playing in the Duke Fab4 (men) and Duke Invitational (women) this weekend in Cary?

The UVa women's schedule lists two tournaments this weekend, one in Charlottesville and one in Cary. So, the roster is split, as often happens in fall tournaments.

Tar Heel Tennis, what happened to Ryan Noble at UNC. Why was he kicked off the team?

i'm sorry that Ryan was unable to succeed at UNC, and hope only the best for him in the future. sorry to be so vague, but i don't feel comfortable publicizing his issue in a public forum. |

I'm hoping that the rain holds off, so that the tournament can be held at one location (Cary Tennis Park). Otherwise, I'll only get to see half of the tennis... |

The draw for the UVa Invitational shows most of the top UVa women's players will be in Charlottesville. It seems that only Emily Fraser (ITA #36) and Hana Tomljanovich (ITA #72) will be going to Cary. They are also our top doubles team (ITA #

Has Wake Forest brought anyone in? They lost Tripper and their coach(and someone else?). They could be in for a very rough year, even with the new facilities.

FYI: the Fab4/Duke Invitational is not a team event. The "4" indicates that four players from a school can participate. However, to fill in the field of 64 for each sex, UNC and Duke have additional players. Many teams, including Alabama, Ole Miss, Elon, William & Mary, Texas, Texas A&M, Illinois, Louisville, Kentucky, Miami, South Carolina, Radford, NC State, Virginia, and Va Tech are playing.

Results from the Duke tourney
Cunha lost to Anthony Rossi who ended up winning that section. Somen and Mengel won the other sections. Tahir was upset by Carter of Louisville |

I haven't followed closely the past couple years but Dwayne has built up quite a program at FSU. I was there his first or second year as coach. Went from bottom feeders in '01 to NCAA quarterfinalists in '05.

Guide to the ACC newcomers for upcoming season:
Boston College Joe Davidson - Woodside,CA Matt Wagner - LA,CA Clemson Hunter Harrington - Spartnaburg,SC. 5 start recruit. Should probably be slipped into the line-up at the 3-5 range. Ayrton Wibowo - Jakarta,Indonesia. Davis Cup player. Word is a doubles specialist. Transfer from Auburn-Montgomery Duke Raphael Hemmeler - Zurich,Switzerland. ATP high rank of 1125. Should be a good insertion into the Duke line-up. around #3 or 4 Jason Tahir - Rochester,NY. Blue-chip recruit. ATP high rank of 1242. Talented freshman, who could go into the line-up immediately. Florida State Dominic Cotrone - Bradenton,FL. 5 star recruit. Low 5 star. Will likely be out of the top 6 freshman year Christian Gonzalez-Mendez - Santiago de Compostela,Spain. No ATP ranking Jason Zafiros - Bradenton,FL. Transfer from Arizona. Will be a senior this upcoming season Georgia Tech Colin Edwards - Valrico,FL. 3 star recruit. Probably a backup Vikram Hundal - Alpharetta,GA. 5 star recruit. Middle-tier 5 star, could be in tail end of line-up Eduardo Segura Mandarino - Madrid,Spain. ATP high rank of 886. This looks like a could catch for the Jackets, s they try to fill the Gomez hole. Juan Melian Puigventos - Las Palmas,Spain. Transfer from Ga.Southern. Was Southern Conference player of year. Good introduction to the line-up. Maryland David Nguyen - Columbia,MD. Transfer from Virginia Vlad Stefan - Bucharest,Romania. ATP high rank of 1300. Will be in top 6 immediately. Miami Victor Mauz - Suresnes,France. No info on this guy Miami only has 6 players, they will need to bring in more. North Carolina Esben Hess-Olesen - Billund,Denmark. Brother of Texas freshman(twin I guess since they are both freshmen). Im guessing the less talented of the two. Oystein Steiro - Snaroya,Norway. NC State Beck Bond - Meriden,CT. 4 star recruit. Robbie Mudge - Moorseville,NC. 5 star recruit. Top 6 player Austin Powell - Muscle Shoals,AL. Virginia Mitchell Frank - Annandale,VA. Blue Chip Recruit. ATP high of 623. Immediately one of the top players in college tennis. Probably to be 2 or 3 for UVA. Virginia Tech Hunter Koontz - Richmond,VA. 5 star recruit. Mid-tier 5 star player. Could be in top 6 for Hokies. Mauricio Antun - Sao Paulo,Brazil. ATP high rank of 1430. Should be a top 6 insertion player Wake Forest Renier Moolman - Randburg,South Africa. ATP high rank of 1152. Good pick-up for Wake after losing many players. Will be top 4 Sam Wells - Moorseville,NC. Transfer from Vanderbilt. Last edited by Clemson_tennis : 10-11-2011 at 05:42 PM. |

Good list of all the guys...you are a big fanatic man!
Moolman at Wake is ineligible but will be very good when he can play. Mendez-Gonzales at FSU has no points, but lost some very close matches to guys in the top 200 ATP. I think Miami signed Wilfredo Gonzales from Guatemala, but I can't certify that. VT also got a guy named Marco Lovrinivic from Croatia, but I don't think he will play. I think GT guys will all be a great surprise. Nobody is expecting them to do well after last year, but the guys they brought in are a good group...plus Spir/King should win NCAA's in dubs if they play up to par. I know they lost AA finals, but they are the best team in the country, hands down, imho. |

Yeah I dismissed GT after they lost Gomez and the other seniors. I thought they would have a down year. But after looking at the newcomers, it looks like they will have a solid year. Probably top 5 ACC team

ACC tennis huh? Let me put it this way, there is one grown man playing the ACC and that is Jose Hernandez. Everyone else is a fraud. The conference is full of wannabe men. Cunha thinks he is crafty but he hits fluffballs and isn't even fast.
