Ok so the guy on the court next to me kept calling balls out that were a good inch within the baseline - blatant cheating basically... I observed this happening like 3 times during a set and this was just between points in a match I was playing so it probably happened a few times more - One can't watch a match whilst playing one! I really felt like saying something but it is not really my place to say so right? Just wondering if folk on here have seen the same thing and what did you do ?

I think I would probably whisper to the other guy that he might want to call an umpire over (if it's a tournament match). But the chances are, the other guy can already tell.
If the ball hits the back of the line, it's tough to tell from the other side of the court. But if it's hitting the inside of the line and being called out, it really doesn't matter how far away you are; you can still tell you're being cheated.

If it's a tournament, I would call an umpire over too. Although some have umpires already there so you can see it.
If it was just recreational play, then I would have told the other player. Or, just blatantly said "Pretty sure that was in bud" unless he was a huge buff guy and was like "you judging me?" and some random sore loser stuff like that. To which case I would ask "if you weren't lying, you wouldn't need to get mad, right? ^.^"

I would have first called the police, then my congressman, and then the local news.

I would just give a knowing smile which indicates "I know what you did."

You should start cheating as well, make the guy being hooked believe he's crazy.

With the current weak administration in the Oval Office, that's all I can ask for, a puny missle strike. Hopefully, we will soon have stronger leadership I can call call in a full carpet bombing and obliterate the entire town. Americans will not stands for line cheaters, even if I have to call in "danger close" air strikes on myself.

Consider this:
You may be wrong about the guy cheating. This is a very common experience. Quite often it appears that a player is cheating when, in fact, they are calling them as their brain "sees" them. When we are very close to the bounce point, our eyes & brain will often have problems seeing the event accurately. At very close proximity our smooth pursuit tracking system is incapable of tracking the ball. For the same reason, we can rarely see the ball as it is hitting our own strings and do not see it immediately after if has left our stringbed either. The ability to accurately make a line call is also significantly hampered if our head or eyes are moving as the ball makes contact with the ground. For this reason, trained linespersons stop tracking the ball as it encroaches a line of interest. Instead, the fix their eyes on the line w/o moving their head and wait for the ball to bounce. We we look over to watch a ball bouncing, our head/eyes might still be moving as the ball hits the ground. The brain's first stable image of the ball may be just after ground contact and the brain may actually interpret an IN ball as OUT. When I'm at the net playing doubles, I will often look back to watch the ball bounce if I believe that it will be close to the line. My partner, who is focused on the ball and the contact point, will often be unaware if the ball is IN or OUT in this situation. I've seen this happen hundreds, nay, thousands of times. Next time you see a player make a bogus call, try to notice if their head is still moving as the ball is bouncing. You might be surprised how often bad calls are made in this situation. On the other side of the coin, balls that are OUT will often not be called for the same reason.

Funny thing. All you have to do is make eye contact after such a call. That oughtta take care of it.

My work is never done. I just save humanity not even a month ago and now I have to carpet bomb Spain. Doesn't anybody take out the trash around here?

I have a similar problem.
I was in my bedroom when I noticed that my next door neighbor were having coitus. I can see that my neighbor had bad technique and I was wondering if I should tell the wife that her husband is "doing it" wrong. Should I meddle in their affairs? I'm quite sure that his technique was bad and I feel for the wife but what should I do? I'm just trying to look out for what's best for the wife because I'm that kind of caring individual who wants the best for everyone. Perhaps I should tell the rest of the husbands on our block and we could get together and confront him all at once about his horrible technique but I fear that my other neighbors may also not be as well trained as I am. This is such a can of worms and here I am just trying to be a good neighbor and be helpful.
