2005 was the weak era and players were not good because they did not hit with a lot topspin and Nole/Rafa were not there.

Actually both Nole and Rafa played in the 2005 AO.

Nole lost to Safin in the 1st Round- 0-6 2-6 1-6

Rafa lost to Hewitt in the 4th Round- 5-7 6-3 6-1 6-7 2-6

But both of them were not seeded in the tournament.

LOL U MAD?

My god, you're on a massive trolling spree. You tryna get banned?

Safin worked his butt off to get in peak physical shape to show himself that he was still able to win a major.. personal validation. Nobody was able to stand up to him.. It's similar to what djokovic just got done doing... except djokovic has a different approach to his tennis than safin.. mainly due to djokovic's greater footspeed.

Stop trolling, you look bitter.

well that was a great match, but safin was very rarely in that shape. don't forget how many bad tournaments he played.

he often was in bad shape and he was a headcase. certainly great tennis talent, but he had so many off days and also could loose to anyone. he often lost in GS tournaments in the 2nd or 3rd round even in his prime. very inconsistent player.

he also lost quite often against santoro

True. But it just goes to show that when he wanted something enough, he was capable of getting it

Safin was prime and Federer wasn't. Completely unfair! I think Federer was scared of Safin. Yes, he was scared, so he lost! Unfair victory.
