Default ROUND 3!!! The GOAT bracket (00/90's) - the definitive pro popularity contest

Hey

You are voting on who would win a match between player1 and 2, 3 and 4, 5 and 6 , and 7 and 8 in their prime or just upon who your favourite player in the match up is

After a fair time for voting (when there is a clear winner in each match up) or one week the poll will be closed

Please do not vote for 2 players in the same match up as voting will be public and both your votes discarded!

Match-ups (in draw format)

Federer [1] vs Safin
Roddick [3] vs Nadal [2]
Sampras [1] vs Courier [3]
Agassi [2] vs Rafter

Seedings were based upon a mixture of year end top 10 finishes and grand slam titles

+1. I agree with this.

These polls are badly done, full of mistakes and OPs personal bias and do not show anything useful. Complete waste of time.

Why not read something about it first? I mean, if you aren't gonna include half of the GOAT candidates in a GOAT contest but you'll have a player like Nalbandian, you should learn the history a little more...

underlined are dubs players which I didnt have in my origional polls

Agassi was in the 90s polls, so basicly of the 7 you picked I would agree with and the other 9 were fillers :P

to be honest I though it was fairly certain that the last 4 from this decade would certainly have rafa and fed. Probably roddick and one of hewitt safin and djoko.

But the fact is that you can't have GOAT polls with such low criteria. Those two doubles teams deserve GOAT more than Nalbandian does.

i totally agree they are better... however this was singles only and with 16 you are bound to get some weaker ones, also its more of a popularity thing than a GOAT poll

Loving the honesty of this poll. The Roddick/Nadal race is very close, because frankly, Roddick at his peak on any surface other than clay would win more often than lose.

Good idea, I like it, refreshing indeed. I suppose the ones who criticise this poll are Federer's followers and they are afraid of him losing this contest to Nadal And now they wonna get rid of Rafa by voting for Roddick Have to admit that IMO prime Roddick really would have good chances against Nadal, but still picked the latter for his fighting abilities and consistency.
Even if Rafa makes it through as 00's winner - Sampras may be too sharp for him
And why not like such form of contest? In the end the majority of tennis tournaments are played that way I mean single elimination, seedings, match-ups.
Come on, people, don't be so negative! it is only a poll, one of millions. In comparison to other threads on this board it is pretty interesting.

No I am Djokovic follower and the OP intentionally and openly shafted Djokovic and some other players at the expense of Roddick. His seeding was a joke. Also many other mistakes, inconsistencies, open uninformed bias... and so on, and so on, ...
Idea is OK, but it is extremely badly implemented and hence complete fail.

Thanks. Also there are a few that dislike that I didnt rate Djokovic as one of the top 4 players of the last 10 years. Mainly people who sudenly think he's the best player ever because he's hit a good vein of form. It was only a few months ago that some of these people were questioning if he was a one slam wonder. Have fun deciding, and lighten up :L

You are bias, I would take roddicks carear in a heartbeat over djokovic. Manus Domini has a better point about why I didnt include players from pre open era than you do as to why I didnt include djokovic

deal with it, if rafa is better than roddick on grass the it is only marginally and on hardcourt I think its pretty clear roddick is better at his peak than Nadal

only 4 players were seeded, they could have got any player apart from each other untill the semi of their decade, sorry djokovic went out :-/ personally I would say he was about 6th for the decade between my 4 seeds and safin. Its all opinion anyway.

I made it pretty clear in the titles that it is mearly a popularity contest.

Also on a side not to ten1s, could you use the multi quote feature in future. and if you dislike these threads ignore them and take your hate else where. Maybe you could even contribute some kind of useful post to the forums?

(i had to remove the similies from each post as you can only have 4 images in a post )
