UVA won, 4-1, just like Stanford.
The match would have ended at 6-1 if it had been played out, but Clark is right, there was a point where the fans were sweating it out big time. |

Doubles I might be more willing to let him go if he feels up to it. I'm sure Boland will be calling me any minute now to find out my expert, zero-career-coaching-victories opinion on the subject. |

Wake Forest has always had the talent, probably top 20 talent. They lost to Tennessee 4-3 last year in a very close match. Team chemsitry and desire has always been the question for them.

Let's not go too crazy here. As I stated above, if the match had played out, it would have been 6-1 with that one loss coming from an injury.
The major concern is whether Drew Courtney can go next week, but even without Courtney, I still like Virginia's chances. Justin Shane slides up to #5, and Julen Uriguen moves up to #6. Both of those players have been ranked in the top 125, and Uriguen played at #6 in the NCAA Tournament last year. Yea, the fans were freaking out quite a bit, but honestly people, if there is any fanbase that has earned the right to have a bit of a mental complex when it comes to the tournament, it's the Virginia fans. |

No, yesterday was my final match of the year.
BTW, the word around the UVA women's match is that Drew Courtney is done, which is a blow to UVA's chances. |

If he's really done I'm sorry for him, for his teammates, and for UVA fans - but, things just got a whole lot more interesting for the rest of the college tennis community. |

Apparently the reports of his demise were incorrect. MRI was negative, and Boland has been quoted as saying Drew could play Thursday.
I wouldn't be surprised if UVA takes the doubles point against Illinois to see him yanked from the singles lineup. An 80% Drew Courtney is good, but I think we'd prefer a 100% Julen Uriguen. |
