Need some help with pricing something

Hey guys,

So I need a little help pricing a racquet for sale, but the rules say no posts related to b&s here at all. Where would be a good place to get help pricing my racquet?

Alright great! Also tried to PM the admin but couldnt find the PM feature like on other forums lol. I'm either really dumb, or its not actually there... I also couldnt find an option to edit a post.

Anyway, its a Pure Drive Team. Its not in amazing condition though, has some paint chips and some scratches from use. It also has a crack on the frame at around the 3o clock position, but it does not go all around and it seems to play fine even with it. I've hit really hard for weeks with it and its holding up fine. It has a pretty recent grip change and has just been restrung but I don't know the specs or the tension unfortunately.

Getting 30$ for that POS would be a crime. 15$ shipped in CONUS sounds fair. Think about it, at a garage sale, what would someone give you for a cracked racquet? 5-10 bucks, that's about it.

Well I had no idea I paid $45 for this like a sucker when I was looking to get a racquet quick from some tennis coach locally. I wish I could go stick this in his rear... And he originally asked me for $55 :/

a tennis coach sold a cracked racket or he sold it then you cracked it? if the latter than it isnt his fault. but like others would say just give it away, it isnt worth anything.

did you not notice the crack when you bought it?

you could always just throw it up on craigslist and hope someone bites but don't expect much if anything. or donate it to goodwill or something.

Well I assume he knew full well :/ he said he personally strung the racquet. I doubt he missed a crack in the frame.

Its my fault for being such a gullible trusting idiot :/ He seemed like a nice enough guy and I asked him if it was cracked and he said no. I played a couple of shots with it, it seemed fine and I just took it. I kinda noticed it, but didn't really think it was such a big deal until I came home and actually examined it properly. Guess I just have to write this down as a loss

Well I did sort of notice it, but there were a bunch of paint chips on the racquet and I didn't think it was anything much more serious than that. He was in a hurry to get back to his coaching. I asked him if it was cracked and he said it was not. I then hit a few quick shots with it and just paid him and left.

I do have it up on CL. Unlike him I have all of the above pictures on CL with an exact explanation of the condition with just makes it harder for me. And then I also went and dropped another $10 on a cover for the racquet. So now I've wasted $55 on this thing already. Guess its not really that much money but its ticking me off more since I barely have any pocket money left :/

I doubt you could string that racquet again. Keep it in your bag as a back up in the event you just need something with strings in it one day. I hit with a guy one day who popped a string and didn't have another one. I had 2 frames in my bag I didn't care about and tossed him one. He definitely wasn't getting one of my Prestiges. Granted, that crack will get worse before it gets better, even just sitting in the bag.

Lok3sh why don't you go and raise the issue of the cracked racquet with the coach/person who sold you it?

Forgive me if I have misinterpreted your age, but if you are under 16 years old why not take a parent/older sibling/older friend with you? It sounds like he sold you the racquet knowing it had a crack and that's just not right.

I am 22 actually... And I know how these things turn out... I've been scammed before and you can almost never win these things without the extra headache. The reason I'm miffed is because I'm an international student here in the US and I'm not allowed to work or earn money or anything so I have to depend on a little bit of money my parents give me from time to time. Spending $45 of those dollars on a bum racquet has not been a great use of my money.

My apologies once again for misinterpreting your age.

Just a thought - but your college/university will undoubtedly have a help-centre on campus to assist students with issues that arise. Maybe have a word with them as they may be able to assist you in some way - perhaps by sending a representative with you if you go to speak with the guy or speaking/negotiating with him on your behalf. Do keep us updated as to how this works out if you do speak to the help-centre. I really want this to work out in your favour - what this guy did was so wrong.

This is the thing, you may be able to hit with it fine until you break a string and then restringing it will be a crapshoot whether the stress cracks it completely. I know a guy who played quite a while with his pretty badly cracked racquet so either keep it as a backup as suggested or if funds are real tight just continue to play with it until the strings break. Depending on your playing level and the type of strings in the racquet it could be quite a while before you need to restring.

Why are you looking to sell? Did you get another racquet or are you giving up the game?
