Yonex RDX 300

I'm a doubles player and i'm wondering if the Yonex RDX 300 would improve my volleys and my overall game. thanx

Racquets do not improve your game. Practice does. That being said, the RDX 300 is a decent stick. A little too much power for me, but you might like it. I think TW has it for demo.

Well... I can say that using this racket DEFINITELY improved my volleying and control.

I'm a 5.0 and this racket is awesome. It gives you a lot more control (at leasta more than my previous Yonexs.

Highly recommend it.

That's good. Do you think this racquet is good for a 3.5 player like me?

It's a very light racquet for a 5.0 player. Did you add lead tape?

I am a S&V player, and I chose RDX300 MP over RDX500 Mid and MP. I think 300 definitely has advantage over the 500 in volley and serve department. I liked the feel of 500MP on groundstrokes, but 300MP had more power, and once you get used to it, the 300 feels very good as well.

At first, I had the 300MP strung at 58 lbs, but it had too much power and I had to use extreme topspin just to keep the balls in play. So I upped the string tension, and I am very happy with 64 main and 62 cross with synthetic gut 17g. I think it does everything the 500 series does, but the added bonus is that you can rely on the racquet to provide extra power in those moments when you don't have enough time to hit a full stroke. It is a quarter of an inch longer than the 500, so it may give you a bit of help on serves, too. It is also great for volleys, both for put-aways and for touch. It beats my old ti.radical hands down in the volley department.

The racquet may be light, but its swing weight is not. Also, I put 6 g of lead tape at 12 o'clock (I've tried many variations but I like this the best), mainly because it makes my serve even more powerful. Beware that this will increase the swing weight accordingly and make the racquet feel more like a much heavier player's racquet.

I demoed it and it's a nice racquet, very manouverable, which would help you at the net. Really a very easy raquet to play with though it was a little too powerful for my liking. I think it would be a good choice if volleying is your thing.

A tennis shop guy described it to me as Yonex's Pure Drive; but I haven't yet seen anyone on these boards who has played with it call it that.

i don't think the 300 is better than 500. and i s & v. racquets are all about personal preference, i guess.

No... no lead tape. I actually really like the lightness cause it helps a lot when serve and volleying. I also have a big swing and hit really hard on my own, so lightness helps there.

I did try lead tape on it and hated it.
