Default Pro Kennex Graphite Destiny 95

I just picked up one of these in great shape at a thrift store for $3.
I'm kinda new at this.
What's with the big bulge at the upper part of the pallet?

Seriously. I've never seen a grip with a bulge like that before, though it seems that a few PK models had them.
What was the idea behind it and was it standard or optional?

Interesting. I replaced the grip and the pallet is definitely molded that way.
I recently saw a couple of PKs on the bay including a Composite Destiny that had similar swollen grips.

It's an anatomically/ergonomically-shaped grip, with an hourglass design. Donnay and Pro Kennex were experimenting with this shape in the late 1980s. Some people hated it. In my recollection, it was actually not too bothersome.

Guess that depends on WHOSE anatomy
I had a couple of clients with the Ceramic Destiny. The grips always felt a bit strange, but not horrible. It might work on a hammer, but it wasn't something I thought was needed on a racket.

The rounded butt cap on the Donnays really felt odd to those of us who hold the racket very low on the handle.

I see. Hammer grips do work well like that.
It does feel oddly comfortable.
It forces your hand lower on the grip.

A seriously nice stick that can hold its own against today's frames (even those with basalt).
