The instructor is experienced, appears to have played at a high level and expressed a desire to help others improve their respective games. Although its says 4.0 instruction I think you can always learn something new, especially with respect to your backhand and conditioning challenges. I came across this informative nutritional talk with Jeff Salzenstein that maybe of benefit... http://www.eatingforenergy.ca/athlet...*****inar.html |

won my match today 6-1 6-3. i didnt feel like i played very well, but a win is a win. i sort of resorted to being a pusher and made him make errors. ill keep this short, but i know if i want to win this tournament ill have to play better than today. my next match is tomorow at 10am and hopefully i can pull out another win.

I just want to put in my two cents, along with several other folks who've already mentioned it, about the benefits you'll get from dropping pounds. I've lost 25 pounds since March and got my body fat % down to 16 from 24. I did it low carb dieting but there are lots of safe and effective ways to lose. I wasn't obese before but was in the overweight BMI category (above 25) even though I used to be reasonably quick around the court for an old fart (52).
However, now I am playing the best tennis of my life because I have gained at least a step in speed on the old me while keeping my endurance the same if not better. I like to mentally picture myself running down balls WITHOUT holding a 25 pound sack of fat. Before dropping the weight I was pretty sure I'd be a 3.5 forever but I was asked to play up at 4.0 for the first time in a fall league so maybe there's hope for an old man yet. I wish you luck Jamison.

i won my match yesterday 5-7 6-3 6-1. i was down 1-4 in the first and thought i was done for. i was able to fight back and make it 5-4, but still lost the first. in the second i was really feeling tired. i was getting that throw up feeling and was almost about to run to the trash can on the side of the court. i really need to drop this extra weight. i am in decent shape, but i can really feel how after a long rally how tired i get. luckily i started to dial in my fh and was able to pull out the match.
the guy i played was really consistent and kept attacking my bh. i reverted to using the slice a lot, but was able to hit a few bh topspin winners. i even had a few passing bh when he was at the net. this is something i ussually cannot do at all. my serve was off, but being able to place my serve well really helped. overall im happy with my performance. i got some video of the match and will post it when i get a chance. i have another tournament im playing tomorow and then have the semi's next weekend.

That's a strange 5.0 tournament. The number 2 ,3 and 4 seeds have 4.5 ratings and the only guy in the draw with an actual 5.0 rating is the number 1 seed.

Just keep playing your game and working on that back hand. You will know how good someone is when you play them. There is no hiding on the court.
