Is he the last man standing who had his major success on grass?

He can't be much of one if he can't get out of the first round at Wimbledon.

Federer anybody??
Llodra?? Raonic, Petzschner?? Watch out for Raonic in the years to come, He will spoil the parties, He is the one I'm gonna pick to win next year, even though this year he can still go far and may as well take Nadal out. |

Karol Beck has his best results on grass as does Oli Rochus, arguably Karlovics best surface.

^not many specialists of any kind today, most do well on all surfaces.
I remember the years it was a rare to have just one player make the qf at the french & wimbledon in the same year(or the french & uso in the same year) it was almost like there were different tours. now it will be a major surprise if we don't have the same semi lineup as the french at wimbledon this year. so weird, still can't get used to how predictable men's tennis has become. |

If there aren't surface specialists anymore, its because the tennis powers have decided it wasn't desirable and have manipulated it their way. Players don't have much choice, whatever their natural gamestyle and talent was, they can only do whatever they can to win, which is to say whatever game works best under these present bland and blended almost same surfaces and conditions where the QFs and SFs are therefore almost always the same people, irrespective of surface. If you think about it, the Isner/Mahut match (today) is pretty ridiculous, seeing their respective strengths and weaknesses and playing styles.
As for Mahut, to h@ll with it, he's going to serve volley every point because he likes to. |

Yeh he may as well. I mean if it's not too out of his way or anything. If he can be bothered. May as well.

I'd love to see what Mahut could do on the fast grass of the 90's...and if he could stay healthy. As soon as I got a look at his knee today, I knew he didn't have a chance in this one.

Daniele Bracciali was sort of a 'grass specialist'. Nowadays he only plays doubles, which is a shame. It is so rare to find a player that actually thought HIS FAVOURITE SURFACE is grass.

Llodra is an amazing indoor player. I dont know why but there seem to be a lot of players that play better indoors. Its crazy.
