Default Urgent help, arm!

i broke my arm in october2012. my radius. i had a cast for 6 weeks and recovered what i'd think normally? and i started playing tennis only last week? It was torture for me not to but i had to resist. but after that my forearm was killing me, which is normal i would reckon. But my wrist seemed weak , the racket would just spin in my grasp. what exersices do you'll recommend? for my wrist strenghth. and also, my fraccture point was a bit sensitive after play. as in it didnt HURT. but only wheni touch it it was like a weird tingly feeling. not pain, like sensitiveness, i dont know if i make sense. but please help me out. Doctors said everything was normal ( 3 months back)

THANK YOU

You had a bony injury (fracture) that is totally healed, no worries there. Unfortunately you now have muscle weakness from inactivity. You need to regrow muscle bulk and get that new (and old) muscle up to it's normal strength and stamina. I would do weights for the former and elastic bands for the latter.

Good luck.

"And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell".

It's actually no big deal:

Hard to beat the Thrower's Ten Exercises for an overall arm workout:
http://www.muhlenberg.edu/pdf/main/a...throwers10.pdf

You may want to consider having a Flexbar for forearm/wrist strengthening (It's not just for tennis elbow):

Even a hand gripper may help:
Gripmaster Hand & Finger Exerciser http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Grip...GRIP-GRIP.html

This was exactly what I was about to post. Great advice. I really think a Flexbar could be of value here.

I don't know. Is it a problem for you? It isn't a problem for the bone itself.

When the doctor cleared you, did he do it via xray or a CT or MRI? If just an xray, if you're still having sensations like this at the repair site, you may wish to ask for more advanced imaging.

Honestly, xrays are very low definition. They are far more useful for a positive diagnosis than a negative one. in other words, if they show a break, then yeah, you have a break. They're great for that. But they are NOT very effective at determining if there are smaller, more subtle bony defects and if it was a matter of importance, I would not be comfortable using an xray to determine that bone was sufficiently knitted.

I had one client who had a spinal fusion and complained of pain and instability post-surgery. Xrays were normal. Several years later they went to someone else who ordered a CT that shows that neither fusion ever fully fused, they were considered "non unions". The client had been walking around with a neck broken in two places for several years.

And me, I had a severe car accident back in the early 90s. Xrays showed my spine was fine, but when the lawyers got involved and ordered a CT, it showed that my back had been broken in 5 places.

From my perspective, xrays are fine for mundane stuff. For more important matters, I just don't trust them.

Remember, bone is living tissue. At your break site you have active repair processes probably still going on. In all the likelihood, the bone IS fully knitted but now has to adapt to the stresses of being used. Glad it's better now. Good luck and happy hitting.

the full story is that on the last xray i took back in march(first week), the bone didnt seem FULLY recoverd as in there was a bit blackness. BUT BUT BUT
the radiographer claimed that all bones dont show properly when they are healed. as in there usually is a small part that is still visible. but doctor who is s senier orthopedic surgeon said that it was 95% healed. so i dont really know. But i just got back from gym and i usually bench a total of about 24kgs, and no pain whatsoever..
