its pretty hard to keep a high enough ranking to play in 20 or 15 straight tournaments while losing 1st round at every one.

not sure if Young can reach 20 because if his ranking falls low enough he won't get direct entry or would have to qualify or start playing challengers. and wins/losses in qualies or challengers don't count in win or loss streaks.

the streak could continue in a bizarre way. say he loses 1st round of his next 4 events. then plays & wins a few challengers. then loses another 1st round. he would then have a 20 match loss streak, despite winning matches at those challengers in between losses.

He should just go to college and try again in four years. If tennis doesn't work out, at least he'll have a degree.

There was a documentary on the Tennis Channel a few years ago about young up and comers in America and it featured Querrey and Young. Even as a junior, Young came across incredibly arrogant, *****ing about Nike sponsorships and the like, and trying to get the most money. Seemed like his parents are contributing to his brat-ness.

if that's the case will he be able to get direct entry into any of the fall events? looks like the streak may have to wait until next year because he may be just playing challengers & qualies for a while(and those results don't count in W-L records)

amazed Spadea could get direct in to 21 events in a row during that streak(though 3 were in World Team Cup)

He'll be able to get into a few fall events because 2 of his biggest results, points wise, havent fallen off yet, US Open 4th rd & Bangkok Finals. Plus, if he does get a win or two between now & the Open, it'll help mitigate the fall in rankings cause he didnt earn any pts between Wash & the US Open last yr.

Also, dont forger the entry deadline is 6 wks before the start of the tournament.
