look at his chest and face. He seems to be more like a linebacker. I'd say dropping around 10-15 pounds of fat would make him a lot better player.

Can't tell if it is a six pack or a little fat. But he doesn't move very quickly on court. I'm not saying he has to lose like 40 pounds or something. Tennis players and sports players lose fat all the time. See Roddick, fish, and ray Lewis who lost like 20 pounds. Tsonga's chest really seems to protrude out

Not fat by our standards, by sports standards. See how his stomach comes out, seems to come out more than it would for djokovic. I still wouldn't mind looking like him though

his problem isn't movement so dropping some pounds or muscle wouldn't help much. it'll just make him weaker.

Yep see djokovic shirtless, no protruding stomach. Tsonga could bear to lose at least 10 pounds. And get those and djokovic has.

Djokovic is on the leaner side, and I don't think that is how Tsonga is built, even if he went on a starvation diet.

He is very lean and muscular in person and someone else wrote that he lost weight under the orders of his new coach.

Well he could lose a little more fat. Every little bit helps.

Tsonga is a different build than someone like Djokovic. Tsonga has natural broad shoulders and a broad chest. I actually believe he already dropped a few pounds a few years back. Think it was in 2011 where he slimmed down a bit.
Besides he moves around just fine on the court these days and fitness is not an issue. So no he shouldn't slim down more considering it's pretty much all muscle. |

He already lost 5kg this year IIRC, and maybe lost some more ever since his new coach has been with him. Loosing more pounds would be like requesting Wawrinka to be as slim as Djokovic, it isn't realistic. Loosing even more weight would simply make him weaker. He has thick bones, whatever diet he does won't get him rid of it.
EDIT: What he looked like in AO '13: http://dailychuckle.typepad.com/.a/6...6924970d-450wi And in RG '13: http://dailychuckle.typepad.com/.a/6...6a11970c-popup Where do you want him to find even more weight to loose without affecting his performance? He can get fitter maybe; but loosing even more weight? Last edited by Lukhas : 06-14-2013 at 05:34 AM. |
