Then it must have been Wimbledon.I remember reading that quote on Connors book ( one of the most entertaining, but I donīt recall the journalist that wrote it, I look up)

You're right. Connors beat Kodes 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-8, 6-3 in the quarter finals of 1974 Wimbledon. Connors then beat Stockton and Rosewall to take the title.
