i've wondered the same thing; my pt 280 with a fairly dense string pattern gets very decent pace and spin, though, so i'm not complaining too much. any answers??

Hit a shot on the run, down the line, exactly where you're aiming, with the Prestige and you'll see why they don't

Ive often wondered how much extra top spin I could generate if I changed to racquet with a less dense string patter (currently using a Ti. Radical).

I think the LM instinct has a slightly opener pattern, if yourse looking for a tour racquet.

I think the answer will be very little, maybe even less Christopher. I my experience, because I grew up playing with 18x20, thats the technique I learned... and I generate more spin with 18x20 than 16x18... I brush the ball more... but I can't do that with 16x18, because it grabs hold of the ball more, and its too easy to launch it.

The general rulse is correct, but for me its the other way round.

Strange.

I can still hit with a fair amount of spin when I want to using this racquet, but it needs replacing and I was thinking of switching to a Babolat PD standard for the extra spin it apparrently gives.

Well make sure you try before you buy, because you might find your not getting extra spin!

also you can always use a thinner string... that WILL give you more spin.
