Default The Poll of the 7 women major winners

There was a poll before between Goolagong and Bueno. Got me to thinking who would win if we expanded the selection to incude Henin and Venus Williams.

You all know the ratings I calculate which are similar to ELO but with some added value

The peak ratings achieved respectively were

Venus Williams 2770 after the French Open of 2002
Maria Bueno 2755 after the French of 1965
Justin Henin 2747 after the US Open of 2007
Evonne Goolagong 2745 after US Open of 1975.

So my vote would go for Venus but who do you think was the better player at their peak?

Why these 4? Seems a bit arbitrary.

PS: DOH! Nevermind, I got it.

Venus reached the highest peak level of play. Henin was the most consistent. Venus has the most longevity. Goolagong has the most raw talent. Venus has the most natural power and athletic ability. Most achievements overall is probably Henin. Most prolific achievements is probably Bueno with 7 U.S Open or Wimbledon titles and 4 years rated as the World #1. Most dominant at peak would be Henin.

Overall it has to be Henin or Venus.

I am going to hang low and read others on this before making up my mind. It is a good topic.

Im going with Maria Bueno for best at peak over Venus. My reason is that Venus at her peak was really just the 2nd best player in her family, as she had just lost both the AO and French to little sister I also feel Maria at peak was especially dominating since she beat Margaret Court in the 64 W and USO slams, who is a top GOAT contender and was playing near her peak as well. I must admit that what Justin Henin accomplished from 2006 to 2007 was perhaps the most dominating including all slam finals in 2006, winning the 2007 FO and USO without losing a set, infact winning both the 2006 and 2007 FO without losing a set. The deciding factor may be the competition and I think the set of great lady champions that Justin dominated in this span was also the most impressive. Hard decisions like this poll choice are why I sometimes want to rely on ratings like the ELO or the Wournos variant
