Default Federer and Grand Slam Records in 2012

With his victory today, Federer won his 60th match at the Australian Open. He won 60 or more matches at the U.S. Open. He is one of only three male players to win 60 or more matches at two different grand slams. If he wins one match at Wimbledon, he will have won 60 or more matches at three different grand slams. If he wins one match at the French Open, he will have won 50 or more matches at all four grand slams (no other male player has even won 50 or more matches at just three grand slams).

If he wins 5 more Grand Slam matches, he will overtake Jimmy Connors for the record of most career Grand Slam match wins.

Meaningless. The only records that mean anything that Roger hasnt done:

- 2 wins at all four slams (joining Laver and Emerson)
- 7 wimbledon wins (joining Sampras)
- and of course the Calendar Slam (join Budge and Laver)

Another extraordinary feats by Federer. These records will be very difficult to break in the future.

2012 is over. Let's look ahead. Nadal replaces Federer in history in 2013, because Nadal/Federer are currently tied at 8 STRAIGHT SLAM-WINNING YEARS. Nadal makes it 9 STRAIGHT in 2013, owning the record forever (and most likely extending on it for many more years).

And why is that record so important?

Because its about WINNING, not QFs or SFs.....

And, its extremely hard to break EVER once it reaches 10+. That's the benefit of being a once in a century player at Roland Garros.

Maybe this slipped your brilliant mind(s) but you don't get to QFs and SFs by losing.

But you quite often lose after the QFs an SFs, rendering the QF and SF useless.

So let me get this straight. Are Grand Slam wins all that matter? Nothing else does?

That makes Federer the GOAT, right? Or perhaps Connors?

If only slams matter, Nadal has 11, Federer has 17.

You mean a 31 year old has 6 more slams than a 26 year old? WOW, now THAT IS AN ACHIEVEMENT!

What is a GOAT? I never see this at the ATP tour site.

6 is the number of Grand Slams Boris Becker won over his entire career. So yes, it is an incredible achievement.
