Butt Cap Removal

I'm thinking about removing the buttcap of my Tour Diablo. I grip my racquet pretty far down and it just kind of gets in the way. Has anyone ever tried just removing their butt cap for good? What effects will it have on my racquet?

I would not recommend it unless you have several rackets of the same model, just in case you don't like it. The cap once removed and replaced may not return to its exact prior condition.

I have three of the same model but they are so old, the caps fall off occassionally. The swing weight, vibration and feel of the grip are a whole lot different without the cap and I imagine the racket would not last as long. But maybe your experience would be an improvement.

Hmmm...I didnt realize the Tour Diablo was that old of a racquet. Of course, I dont pay attention to Prince racquets either. Maybe I misunderstood Aahala's comment.

I would not recommend taking off the butt cap. Do you grip that far down for every stroke? Serves, forehand, backhands, volleys, approach shots, slices, overheads, etc????????

Boy, if you are, you have one whippy stroke. I guess you must be one hell of a player to control that racquet head and still maintain consistency.

If your having problems with consistency and timing, I would suggest moving your hand up for more control. Racquets fhave had butt caps for years for good reason, it suppports the heal of the palm for racquet head control.

I didn't put it quite right. The three racquets I use are the same model, but not the same model or brand as named by Venetian.
