I remember when Sampras played his last US open in 2002, the tv showed Sampras got 100% winning percentage at night match. Am I correct?

Nothing like a big serve at night. I remember how unhappy Borg was when his match with Tanner was shifted to nighttime. He groused that the USTA only did it to enhance the chances of Americans in the tournament.

I remember that to. Borg had developed a psychological thing with playing at night. I don't remember him making that charge though. Sounds very un-Borgish. I don't think the networks or the USTA would have wanted Tanner in the finals over Borg anyway. Tanner wasn't going to win the tourney and even if he did Tanner wasn't going to be a star. And general sports fans weren't putting on the TV to see Roscoe Tanner but they would to see Borg. |
