Isn't he actually (or at least he was at one time) a pop "star" in France, meaning considerable sales and exposure?

He is.....did about 150 dates last year and right now on a current 24 date tour. Plays mostly in French speaking countries - Belgium, Switzerland, France and last year got to play at the Stade the France which was huge.
