Default Anyone know Federer's return of serve grip?

Anyone know Federer's return of serve grip? Right after he spins his racquet. To me, it looks like he goes Continental, then changes accordingly. Comments?

Is this because you want to know just for knowledge or actually go out and try it? If you need help with your return game wrong thread. I'm pretty sure it depends what wing the serve is going to.

would it really matter prince of tennis? maybe he just wants to analyze federer's return game. so go fk off now.

he starts out with continental and blocks some serves back with that. he might change to an eastern forehand grip if the ball is coming to the forehand. if coming to the backhand, he will switch slightly to an eastern backhand grip, but very slightly.

Looks to me like he just switches to his normal backhand or forehand grip like most others unless he is chipping it back or blocking it back.

Federer uses the spinning racquet waiting position where he can adjust to any grip from the spinning position.

This is actually an interesting question. I suppose this belongs in the Tips and Instructions forum, but what return grip do most 1h-bh players/pros use?

I found that waiting to return with a full eastern bh grip works best for me as its easier to switch from bh->fh grip than vice versa, and the 1h-bh requires a much more exact grip than the fh.

Of course none of this applies to Fed as he has much better timing and talent.

I wait in the eastern forehand grip because it's easy to block back balls for me even on the backhand side because of my flexibility.

Like Lendl.

Totally unrelated, but I thought I'd share something I thought was funny. I ran into someone named Yvonne Wendel the other day. Her parents must have been tennis fans inthe '80's.
Kidding, actually, she was born before Lendl's pro career started.
