How's that outdoor facility looking these days? With that ranking, you can now officially start to whisper the H-word.

Long way from that. With this ranking teams will be gunning for us, looking at us at a good chance to boost their own ranking. Especially teams like UNC,South Carolina,FSU,VT. Opposite of last year where we were the hunter.

But the facility is ready if the H word comes into play.

Yannick Maden goes up to 57. He has a chance in two weeks to get a big individual win vs Rafael Aita. Winning that would really help him cement his spot in the individual tournament at the end of the year.

I hope Dom Maden can come back soon. The Maden's bros at #1 doubles would be competitive with anyone in the nation and gives us a great chance at the doubles point in every match. He is also a more solid 4 than Wibowo. Not anymore talented than Wibowo but far more mentally stable and has more desire to win. Last year D Maden came back from 6-3 3-0 down against Chip Cox to win the match. Wibowo never digs that deep. If things are going badly for him, they keep going badly. Also with Dom Maden out we are one ding injury away from having to put Blaho at 6, which is something that would rather be avoided.

60-ish. Depends on how many "Conference champions" can make it into the Top 125.

ClemsonTennis, will you make the trip to Columbia on Sunday? I'll have to miss the match live, which stinks because I was looking forward to wearing my Charlotte Tennis Academy shirt, which is where me and your assitant coach John Boetsch grew up.

I will absolutely be there. And hopefully all the Gamecock fans will be at baseball so there is no home court advantage. I remember last time we went to Columbia 2 years ago there were literally like 5 Gamecock fans there at the courts.

You will enjoy the new facility. It is great to sit just above the baseline in any court you want. Have fun.

match is sunday in Columbia at 1

Last year The gamecocks came into Clemson and beat us 4-3, Ivan Machado outlasted Gerardo Meza in an epic deciding match. They lost Nick Jones and Ivan Machado from last year and added Tsethov Mihov. Basically the same team talent level as last year. Their best win this year is over #38 NC State. Have lost to #15 Texas and #26 VCU as well as a bad loss to #55 Michigan State.

potential match ups vs Clemson: (Clemson player listed first)

Doubles will be 50/50. The winner of doubles will have a big advantage.

singles:

1: 57 Yannick Maden vs 106 Tsvetan Mihov
Mihov is a transfer from Oklahoma. For the Sooners he was a mediocre 3/4 player in their line-up. Now I'm supposed to buy that he is a legit and solid #1 player. The only reason he is ranked is because he beat #53 Juan Spir of GT, when Spir was going through one of his signature "I can't play tennis" phase. Maden has been rolling, he has 3 straight easy wins over ranked players. I expect Maden to win. I do not know how Mihov plays as I have never seen him play before.

2: Hunter Harrington vs Andrew Adams
Adams is one of the worst sports in college tennis but has a good forehand that he can hit consistently. Harrington will be able to move him around with his first strike tennis. Adams is not a defensive player and will be uncomfortable having to play defense vs Harrington.

3: Gerardo Meza vs Chip Cox
Interesting matchup. In one way it favors Cox because he takes the ball early and will press Meza. Meza was able to work Ollert of Auburn all around the court because Ollert was playing in an adjacent county at times. But Cox stays close to the baseline. In another way in favors Meza because Cox is not good on the move and Meza's solid groundstroke angles will cause Cox to have to move around everywhere.

4: Ayrton Wibowo vs Thiago Pinheiro
Pinheiro is a very good player. Lefty from Brazil who has a good mix of power and spin. He can hit his forehand in many different ways. Wibowo(assuming D Maden will be still be out) may have one of his good days or he may not. Who knows.

5: Zac Rigsby vs Kyle Koch
Last season Koch beat Rigsby 6-2 6-2. Can Rigsby do another about face matches like he did vs Auburn. Similar thing as last year. Against Auburn Rigsby played Lucas Lopasso who he lost to 6-2 6-1 last year. This year he beat Lopasso 6-2 6-0. Is a similiar turn around coming? Likely not, but it also won't be a Koch rout. I expect a close match.

6: Austin Ansari vs Harry Menzies
Easy Ansari win. #6 is the Gamecock's weakness and quickly becoming the Tiger's strength.

the good news is all the fans will be at baseball so there won't be much of a home-court atmosphere for the Gamecocks.

It will be interesting to see what happens at number 1 then as Mihov beat Junior Ore from A&m in straight sets yesterday

I just saw that your prediction on the site turned out to be correct. The CU v USC match is indoors today. Dubs will be huge for this match.

Twitter tells me the Gamecocks won the dubs point with victories at 1 and 2.

I think Clemsontennis's prediction at #1 will be dead wrong. Little fun here. With the doubles loss that now means you'll need to depend on 4 wins from #'s 2-6. Let the uphill battle begin.

Clemson takes 1 and 3. Gamescocks take 2 and 4 and dubs. USC up 3-2 with 5 and 6 to go.

The difference ended up being Wibowo leading 6-4 3-1 and had chances for 4-1 but lost his advantage and then Pinheiro took over.
